Need advice

We have a 2017 26 X Alante and would like to have a towed car. What are some of the one you people are using? Will I have to have a dolly to put it on?

I'd start by checking the owners manual, that will give you the accurate information.

I bought a tow dolly so I can tow the vehicle I have now, In the future I will consider a towable car, but for now I don't even know it's back there.

The advice I was asking for is make and model of the cars being towed. I know that I can tow up to 5K pounds. What cars can be towed without a dolly and what are some of the ones that can not. I really appreciate all the help you people are giving me.

Just like what hoppers4 and homer1959 said, Motorhome magazine prints a list of cars that are towable with all wheels on the ground. Some of those vehicles are stick shift transmissions, some are automatics. I have flat-towed a small pickup (99 Toyota Tacoma) behind a motorhome before. It was a manual transmission that we left in neutral, unlocked the steering wheel and hitched up to the motorhome in a matter of minutes. I have never used a tow dolly to tow a car, but with those you can tow most any front wheel drive and some rear wheel drive cars.

The last vehicle I was towing with my class A was a 2014 sienna minivan. Thats was my limit as the van was 4200 and dolly 650. Never had any problems over many miles. Only thing I don't like is with the newer vehicles is the clearance. The minivan I had to remove the splash pan and cut the flares down a bit. That was with a master tow dolly. Before that I had a grand am 2700lbs. which was able to be towed 4 down. However, I towed it on a demo dolly. I liked the demo better since the way it was designed you never had issues with clearance . Only issue with the demo was the width and what I could tow, not 80 inches like the master tow. Just some food for thought if you end up getting a dolly.

I just purchased a new 2016 Alante 26x and will be flat towing a Honda element . I tried the two dolly on the Class C but the extra weight and the problems with where you have to hook up safety chains and stopping to tighten up the straps was just to much of a pain . Find a car you think can be towed and check it out on the link someone provided and also look at other RV web sites to see if others are using the same model or if more are using something else, The honda CRV until 2016 are a popular choice but new models are not flat towable . We tow a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sahara auromatic. It is easy to tow and fun. We don't use it as an everyday car, but mainly as our tow vehicle. Love it and it only takes a few minutes to hook up and unhook. Good luck.

I have a Jeep Wrangler which is the most towed vehicle out there. I also use a blue ox tow bar. The absolutely the best on the market. Once installed on the vehicle you don't even notice it. Good Luck
