We’re purchasing a 2017 Jayco Precept 31ul. I’m excited but lots of the reviews aren’t so good. Any suggestions or comments? Had a class c Jayco years ago and was very pleased with it.

Welcome aboard!

I do not have a Precept, but the common complaint I hear on the forum is handling issues. The previous owner might have done some upgrades. If not, you might want to consider some to make driving more enjoyable.

Good luck happy travels

Thanks! I’ve heard about adding stabilizers but was hoping the J Ride would eliminate the need for that. Guess we’ll see after we drive it for a while. Honestly, that’s why we went with the precept rather than Alante.

'18 Precept here. We're pretty happy with the handing that "J-ride plus" provides. Drive it for a few thousand and report back. Our only bitch is the location of the Garmin info system, tough to see when driving

Welcome to the Jayco ownership club. The ride you experience sometimes can be a function of your expectations. Many have added the CHF and other mods to help improve the ride and others have left it as is. I never did anything to mine and am happy with how it handles even in windy conditions. Some of it may be related to the longer wheelbase on my coach. As previously mentioned, try it the way it is and make your decision after you’ve had a chance to drive it awhile. You will know before too long whether it is acceptable or not.
As for the mud guard I don’t use one and haven’t had any issues yet other than the normal toad getting dirty from pulling it on wet roads or in the rain. I have a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and rarely tow it on gravel roads. Others may have a different opinion but for me it would be a hassle to install and remove and store it but I’m sure those that use them have a system figured out. Good luck.

Couple addons you might consider....... a Safe T Plus Control....first video shows and RV blow out....... bad news https://youtu.be/dSgz61yn-4M

and a good video watch it at the end and it shows how it actually works in real blowout conditions.

https://www.safe-t-plus.com/news/cla...tection-video/

Additionally, I would recommend for convenience and ease power reel for shore line see attached photo, power reel for water line see attached photo
