We’re purchasing a 2019 Jayco Alante 31v. Just sold our 2017 Thor Quantum and looking forward to a Class A again. Enjoyed the Thor Forum but now I’m looking forward to the Jayco Forum. We’re a little concerned about the 30 amp AC but sounds like most owners are ok with it.

Hello everybody.
Just bought a 2020 Jayco Precept 29V. We’ve been out in it twice now and enjoying it. Any secrets I should know about these RV’s?

Congrats on the 2019 Allante 31V. I have its sister, the 2019 Entegra Vision 31V, same floorplan, chassis, etc and built by Jayco in the same factory as the Allante, simply badged differently as it rolls out. Regarding the 30amp and the two ACs, i have not had any issues with the 30amp. Personally, I like the configuration and prefer it over a 50amp coach. We tend to stay in state parks more than anything and needing a 50amp site can limit the available sites in some parks. The power management system will shed loads as needed to compensate for any transient heavy power usage, such as microwave, hair dryer, etc... The way that it works is that the water heater is shed first, then the fridge, then the rear AC, then the front AC. I have never had my usage get past shedding the rear AC. The nice thing is the water heater isn't affected unless the load is continuous for very long periods of time, and if so you can use the gas side of the water heater. The fridge will switch to gas, and when the ACs shed its only the compressor, not the fan, so you never really notice it, especially if the load is transient and short lived. We live and camp primarily in Florida and we have no issues with the heat.


I highly recommend the following:


1. Perform the CHF front and rear, and get a rear trac bar. The difference in handling is night and day. You may already be familiar from the Thor.



2. Get a set of magnashades for front and side windows, the difference is unreal and its easier to keep the unit cool if the heat never makes it in.


3. Check the caulk at the kitchen and bath undermount sinks, ours needed to be redone and water was getting under the counter.


Let me know if you have any other questions, we've put about 10K miles on ours from new and have not left the southeast (FL, GA, AL, LA).

Might consider picking up a roll of double bubble reflective shield from lowe's or Home Depot. Easy to cut and shape for your windows .... relatively cheap additional shielding on your windshield, driver and passenger side windows. Whenever I am situated, I place them inside between the privacy shades and windshield/windows for added heat and sun protection to keep the coach cooler. I have 5,500-watt Onan Marquis Gold Genset with 50-amp service and 2nd 13,500-BTU air conditioner and southwest sun can be punishing to keep cool without the reflective shield up.

Congrats on the 31V, we have the same and this is our third summer camping with it. Have put on almost 30,000 miles in freezing temps and snow plus 100+ degrees. I have had both A/C units go out in the first two years so have had to run on one in 100 degree heat and while it takes more time to cool down it does get it comfortable inside. However, the two units do a bang up job and only draw 18 amps total when running at full speed. I keep an eye on the total amp load but have never tripped a breaker when running both A/C units.
We have also done the CHF and added a rear trac bar and steering stabilizer. Makes a huge difference in handling on freeways, mountains, switchbacks, wind, trucks and more. But all in all we are really happy with the layout and operation. REALLY enjoy the big front windshield!!
