New style back end Precept

I was scrolling through RV trader looking at Precepts and prices. Noticed the new 2022 Precepts have a flat back. Was wondering if it’s for a little more room in the bedroom. Personally I like the molded look.

The molded rear panel is indeed much nicer looking, but I think Jayco had to buy those from a third-party supplier/manufacturer. Maybe the supply dried up from closings or became cost prohibitive. The flat faced rear panel Jayco can make in house, like the side panels.

Based on what I’ve seen most likely cheaper way to manufacturer.

They lost the nicer looking tail lights, as well.

The molded fiberglass caps were in short supply so they stopped installing them on the Precept. Now they are using the a less expensive product which in my option is no where close attractive or durable.

Bottom line price of the unit went up quality went down!

On the bright side, now it has a bumper to store the sewer hose in and hang a spare tire carrier on. Just sayin'...

They use the same rear cap on the Seneca/Accolade so like anything these days, production of caps is probably low so they are probably dedicating the rear caps to the Super C’s.

When the tail lights start to leak the damage will be on the back wall now instead of running down the inside of the cap. I hate those recessed tail lights.

Exactly.

There is still a resin shortage so molded caps are in short supply. That is why the PINNACLE has been changed as well.

Yes, the flat wall recessed lights are a problem. Usually owners don’t find out until substantial damage is done. Surface mounted lights would be a lot easier to keep sealed with just wires coming through.

The only good thing is it should be easier to clean but is does look low cost.

Bummer. We have a Precept on order, to be ready sometime in March or April. I liked the look of the molded rear. The flat panel looks like a downgrade. Oh well.
