Patching walls?

We’re doing a little remodeling and are taking down some of the valances and replacing with more modern shades. I was going to spackle the holes with regular household joint compound, but wondered if vibration might cause problems down the road. Wood putty or auto body filler are options I suppose.
Anyone been done this?

Factory uses colored putty. I always bought the Min-Wax jars from H.D. or Lowes.

The putty I got from Lowe’s about 10 years ago looked like a crayon ( about twice the size). Came in all the MinWax shades and worked fine for me.
