Precept 29UR
Jayco Family,
I'm a new owner of 2016 Precept 29UR. My wife has a concern of inside door step space with a 2yr old grandson. Any suggestions? thanks csk

I have seen things that people made to fill the hole when on the inside. They used a small piece of plywood with blocks under it to keep it from shifting. It has to be removed when using the door.
Maybe someone will chime in that has actually seen or made one.
Welcome to JOF and hope you enjoy the new rig.

csk.....CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME.
Our "kids" were 2 Golden Retrievers. We solved the inside step cover problem with a 3/4" plywood that covered the step area. installed borders on the under side with 1/2''X2'' so the cover fit but didn't slip. Wrapped the cover with outdoor carpet and installed a handle on the top side. It was easy to maneuver into place as we left the coach as well as when we were in the coach. We often came back to the coach and found both of our 85#+ beauties laying on the cover........lol

We made a similar plywood cover for our Precept so that the little grandchildren would not fall down the steps. Same as Darrell and Mary, we used 3/4" plywood with blocks on bottom to keep it in place. Works great. I will post a pic or two when I get out to the camper.

They used to make fifth wheels years ago with that same arrangement to keep the steps outside lower. Only for a year or so and they stopped doing it. To many complaints like yours. It may not be doable in a mh to eliminate the first down step on the inside.
Seems like a good work around.

norty1, The cover over the steps is the same height as the floor........except the 1" material raise.
