Precept 35S King Bed Issue With Slides In

My DW and I are now 33 months into owning our 2016 Precept 35S and have all the kinks and warranty items worked out. We liked the floor plan with all the counter space, lots of storage, washer/dryer combo and have had the Girard WH replaced with a Truma so life is good. I have two bugaboos. One is the end of the king bed that gets folded up when the opposing bedroom slides are pulled in and the second is accessing the space underneath the king bed. Has anyone out there with this same or similar floor plan made any mods that addresses either of these issues? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same unit so I'll sign on here to follow this thread. DW uses all the underbed storage with blankets and pillows.

No complaints on the mattress even though it seems flimsy we both sleep well on it and other family members who have slept on it said they loved it.

The hinged flap fell off last week when I raised the bed so I have a project to complete there before next Monday. Short wood screws and thin wood won't take much abuse. Rt.90 from New Orleans to Lafayette has loosened up just about every piece of hardware on our coach, avoid if possible.

I didn't like the "smash the mattress" option when closing the slide so I made these mattress props. Because the bed slides using hydraulic props is not an option to make lifting the mattress easier.

Vic,

Did you replace the short hinges on the drop board with a single long piano hinge? I had to move one hinge today, the screws pulled out of the thin wood.

Was thinking I read on this forum that someone had used a full length piano hinge.

Mine has a full width piano hinge. They must have run out the day your coach was put together Nick.

Must have been a Friday afternoon and he didn’t feel like walking to the warehouse for a full length piece so he used floor scrap

Guess that will become an early winter project as a pair of 16” hinges are not nearly enough for the thin bed floor/drop plate.

My wood was sagging along with the cheap mattress. Dealer put a heavier plywood with 2x2 supports underneath. Might want to check the plywood while you're at it.
