Precept 36C Gas Mileage (MPG)

Hi all. Just purchased our 2023 Precept 36C (picking up in November) and was wondering what mileage you all are seeing with this rig or similar size. We were getting between 8-9 with our 2017 Greyhawk, but figure I should expect less in the A. What are you all seeing out there? (PS…I know there are a lot of factors, but just asking about general average).

I have a Thor ACE 33.1, 34' 6". At 60 I get 9 mph at 65 I get 8.6 and that is the Godzilla engine. GVWR 20,500, pulling golf cart and trailer about 2,000 pounds

I just did a 5 hundreds miles and I am getting 8.5 mpg, I live in the PNW so we have some hills and mountains to drive but I don't think that I can do any more better than that, I might can squeeze about 9 mpg and I was towing my toad on the dolly tow.

I have the 7.3 in my Alante 27a. I was getting 8.6
Then added a toad, getting 8.1 now.

Okay, it seem like that most of them are getting around 8 mpg, going back home which we leave this Saturday we will be going up the mountains and the hills so it will probably drop down to about 7 mpg, but I will see.

I'm still envious, my 2016 32' Alante w/Triton V10 (3 valve) gets around 7.5 w/ no toad (not in T/H) and that's not in hill country.

Not a chance for me. Everything in her works, have already invested thousands in recovering the Jayco dumpster fire they call upholstery, have upgraded the suspension and steering so that driving in highway traffic isn't an absolute terrifying experience, new short queen mattress and donated the original to a black ops torture site in Uzbekistan, just yesterday replaced tires all around and with rigid solid metal one piece valves so you can really put air in the tires and don't need to remove the wheel covers. That said, the cabinetry in her is first class and she's solid built so don't think I'll roll the dice on what's rolled off those plant floors this past few years.

Just got back from a 1,500 mile trip to Reno from the PNW. Pretty close to gross, (17,850+toad) measured on a vacant Oregon Scale. Flat pulling a Bronco through the mountains and the winds we got 7.2 round trip.

The V10 I had in another brand MH would never get more than 7. Pulled a trailer some and didn't make much difference with it without, would never get over 7 or less and drive me crazy down shifting and going to 5000 rpm every little grade. So glad to be rid of it and in a Jayco 35GS with a Duramax. Set cruise on 70 and go over most hills without a down shift. And get better by milage

Own '22 Jayco Precept 34g w/7.3 Godzilla V8, 7,500 mi. On odometer. Pulling F150 toad from N.E.Ohio to Red River, NM (over Bobcat. Pass. 10,300 ft., 8% hairpin grades) & CO Sprongs & Denver, CO. (3,500+ mi. round trip) avg'd 7.3 mpg.
Running JayRide, saf-t-plus steering stabilizer, (4) Koni FSD's, rear supersteer trac bar, front sumo springs, rear firestone air bags (onboard compressor & tank). Drove thru heavy rains, 100+ deg. temps, 8% grades, 10K ft elevation. Coach ran strong, all systems worked well. Very pleased with the rig, so far. Handeling mods. are critical to ensuring the safest and most comfortable coach possible. All mods done at local suspension shop (semis & heavy chassis) total cost $7k. Best money you can spend on your MH.

What is your towing capacity? Isn't it around 4,000

When I looked up my towing it was less than I thought, I figured yours was larger and would probably tow less and I saw these Weights

I have travel that way many times, those hills and mountains are a killer we might be doing that next year or might go down to TX.

I've been traveling fulltime in a 36C since mid-May. I'm pulling a Chevy Colorado that runs right about at 5,000 pounds with the crap that I have in it.

I initially was running the generator for every drive for the kids for air conditioning but have now gotten to the point where I can run A/C on battery power so I no longer need the generator. BUT, I've also added about 1,200 pounds in battery/solar/inverters. AND, I've added an insane rack on top to hold all of the solar panels above the air conditioners.

And lastly, I keep my driving speeds in the ballpark of 62-64 mph almost exclusively.

We started in Florida and made a meandering drive to New Mexico (by way of the east coast and Michigan) to the tune of about 6,000 miles.

So here's some observations:

- When I first got the RV, I got excited about being able to drive faster than I used to tow. I tried it leaving Jacksonville and headed towards Huntsville. I saw my first 5.6 mpg fuel up and about poo'd myself. I dropped my speeds back down to 62-64 mph.

- The numbers are skewed a bit based on generator runtime at different campsites. My worst fill up was 5.4 mpg but it was after a good 15-20 hours of generator runtime while moochdocking at a friend's place for a long weekend.

- I have not been able to identify a notable difference of running generator vs. adding the weight + roof rack for solar. But, it's been horrendously windy each drive day since we left Michigan.

- My best fill up was just the other day, driving from Albuquerque to Amarillo. Ironically, it was also during this drive that I was once 1/2 blown out of my lane due to wind.

So, longest story shortest - it's just. so. inconsistent.
