Propane fridge

Aside from an open valve on the propane tank what, if anything, has to be on for the propane fridge to keep running? House power? Inverter? Or will it stay on with RV parked and off?

Key element is getting gas to the frig. So when you first open the propane tank, light the stove, to purge the gas line. First time you light the frig, it might take a few tries as it needs to purge any "air" from the lines.

After that, it uses 12 volt dc power for the control board.

If you are connected to shore power, and the switch is set to auto, it will flip over to 120 volt electric mode, for the cooling process.

If you flip the frig to off mode, the gas solenoid closes, and it is off, until you flip the switch again. Honestly, I do not know why you must purge the gas line every time you turn the gas back on, if the system has not been used for a few weeks, but you need to.

New users usually struggle to get the frig to light because of the lack of gas in the line.

When running your fridge on propane it needs the propane tank open (obviously) and it needs the 12volt battery power to run it's thermostat and ignite the flame when needed.

Keep in mind though, do not leave it unattended for much more than a week without a way of recharging the battery. Along with the parasitic draw on the battery from the CO/propane detector and the entertainment system background memory and clock and other items; your battery(ies) could end up drained in a relatively short time.

It also takes longer to cool than most people think is necessary. Next question will be can I leave it running on propane while heading down the road. 9 out of 10 people will tell you yes. The tenth will point out you risk explosion and death while doing so especially at gas stations.
