Question on F53 brakes

This rig is new to me, as is the F53 chassis. I'm used to the E450, with almost the same rolling weight.

I feel like the brakes aren't performing well. And when I push hard enough to actually come to a stop I hear a fairly audible hiss coming from the brake system where the booster is located. Is this normal?

Do you guys get good braking? My E450 has phenomenal braking power! This F53 is making me nervous.

We don't have the F53 chassis but our current motorhome and our first had the hydraulic assist brakes and the hissing sound is normal. We often hear it when sitting at a light with the pedal slightly depressed.

Perhaps a Ford dealer needs to check your brakes to ensure they are working correctly and don't need servicing or replacing.

My F53 had brakes that required a lot of pedal pressure at first. At 10k miles they had improved dramatically. I found the same issue with three Super Duty pick-ups too. Ford brakes take some miles to seat and work better.

BTW - the F53 booster is an electric motor. Push the pedal with engine off and you will hear it run. Is that the sound you hear?

Are there any symptoms? Spongy pedal, slow pedal return, etc??
