Safety recall

Has anyone had to deal with the safety recall on their 35S Precept for the adding of a new fuse to prevent a dash Board Fire?
Can’t find anyone to work on it in Southern California.
Tried Camping World, local Ford dealer and All Valley RV who claim to be a Jayco dealer.

I will get this recall done at Richardson's in Riverside (besides some warranty work). It took however some 7 weeks to get an appointment.

I guess you HAVE to go to a Jayco dealer in any case. Or just swap the fuse yourself.

Had mine done at dealer. Was going there for other warranty issues so added the fuse problem to the list. I believe it has to be done by a Jayco dealer.

Order the fuse from Amazon (they are hard to find in stores) and replace it yourself. People have been replacing fuses for decades. It's more important to have the correct fuse in than wait for a dealer to do the "recall".

Recall

Hello. You can recalls done by any certified repair facility. Recalls and repairs are all reported to NHTSA so it is important that you have a repair facility do the repair. It seems like red tape as we all know how to change a fuse, but for proper record keeping and safety, it's important to have it performed properly. You can have Jayco send the recall kit to any dealer or repair facility that you would like as long as they contact Jayco first. Besides that, if you don't have the recall repair reported to Jayco they will keep mailing you letters to have the recall performed and we all hate unnecessary mail.

It's not an NHTSA recall. It's a manufactures recall. All the kit is the fuse and a sticker.

Yes, had it done two weeks ago on our precept 36T. They replace the fan relay fuse (25amp) with a 15 amp fuse.

There must be another recall by Jayco because most of us have been sent a letter saying to replace the fan blower fuse (40a) with a 25a fuse.

Maybe that's why I now have no radio or cameras, too small of a fuse where is the radio fuse located? Can't find it...

Most of us (there is another internet Jayco Precept site we aren't allowed to talk about here) with over 600 members recieved a letter from Jayco not from NHTSA so I'm wondering if the recall has escalated from Jayco to the NHTSA?

To be clear, I also got a letter from Jayco with instructions. But I did find the related NTSA note on the Internet that I attached to the earlier post.

I did talk to Jayco about this recall and they said that a dealer needs to do this repair or they will not cover any issues related to the repair after it is done.

Does the dealer give us a document that they installed the fuse and sticker?

I will let you know after 6/29 when mine will be done. I will be sure to ask for documentation of the repair.

Don't wait for an appointment. It is fuse, change it yourself and you're all done in 5 minutes. Takes more time to order the fuse on amazon than it does to change it. I spoke with a Jayco factory authorized service center and they verified if its changed that is the fix and I don't need to bring it in.

It's just a fuse. Got mine from Amazon and changed in 5 minutes. 60 mile round trip to dealer, they would probably want to keep for a few days, it wasn't worth the time for me. Last time I had recall done at dealer they never told jayco and I got extra letters anyway. Too much hassle with my lame dealer. I do have receipt for fuse and picture of it installed. No label though.

Hawkster, do you have the item number that you used to order from Amazon? I see several different 25A fuses but I think some are small, or standard, or max???
Thanks!
