Soundstream GPS Manual

I have a 2019 Precept 31UL with a Soundstream Unit in the dash. The Manual I have devotes one paragraph to the GPS Function. How do I get a complete Manual.

Jaycojon, just got our Precept yesterday. Did you find the manual? I need one, too.

If the manual isn't with all the other product manuals that Jayco included, just go to the vendor's/brand's website and there should be a "support" section you can download a PDF of the manual. If that doesn't work, google " brand name, model and user manual"

Soundstream sucks, bad !
Poor layout, worse function, poor location (Jayco designer's fault).
I hate it !

Hours spent trying to get Bluetooth and phones to pair, unsuccessfully.
GPS is ...... lost ?
I'll replace this piece of junk as soon as I can find something better I can afford as well as a better way to mount it.

It would be nice if my co-pilot(wife) could actually see the screen as well as maybe even control it ? (Jayco poor design again}

I replaced ours this week. Kenwood Excelon series head unit and separate rear view camera and Garmin 660. Garmin and RVC are mounted on top of dash. Will post picture of setup later today.

Replacing that Soundstream unit was the first thing I did after driving the rig home. It is awful to use while driving and the location is terrible for using the rear view camera.

I put in a Boss Elite. So far, I love it. I was a little scared of the brand, but Crutchfield has always had better lower end products than Amazon. It has a bigger screen that I can tilt to face me. It sits higher in the dash so my rear view camera is easier to see while driving. Carplay works great. Has a knob for volume. Took me about an hour to splice the harness, and I did have to fiddle with the double din opening for a single din head unit. Ended up with an extra storage tray in the opening. Totally worth it.

Can you post some pics and provide a little more detail on what ‘fiddling’ was required to make it fit with a storage tray?

You are welcome. On page 30 when you are in the settings change it from car to bus. Then you should be all set for RV's.

I’ll get some pictures on Monday with some links to what I bought.

I've attached some pictures. Here is a quick summary of install:

1. Removed trim that surrounds Soundstream (be careful as you will reuse)
2. Remove four corner screws that mount Soundstream to double din frame in dash
3. Remove and disconnect antenna, camera video feed, GPS antenna, dash usb input, and wiring harness.
4. Cut all wires for old wiring harness adapter..
5. Match and splice wires to new harness adapter (They are labeled on the Jayco wiring...take your time and get this right)
6. Move original mounting frame from Soundstream head unit and put the Boss single din head unit into the top portion reusing two screws that came off of old unit.
7. Wire video into Boss Rear Camera input
8. Plug radio antenna and Carplay USB into Boss head unit
9. Leave GPS/Sirius antenna unconnected (Boss unit doesn't have these features)
10.Slide the head unit back into the dash (I had to force mine gently as the screws are a little wider (could be fixed with FHS screws, but I didn't have any on hand).
11. Mount the Din tray adapter using Gorilla double stick tape (I put some on the bottom of the double din frame https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
12. Matched the included din tray adapter trim to ensure no gaps visible
13. Put the original double din trim back on.
14. Reset the Boss head unit
15. Turn on Boss head unit and adjust height and tilt to make visible during driving.
16. Crack open a beer and ask why they don't make all radio head units to the same connector standard.

That looks MUCH better than the Soundstream but, unfortunately, I do need the Sirius and would like to incorporate the GPS function also.

That is the downside. I use my phone for my gps and push it through CarPlay, switching between my rear view camera to gps.

But if you need Sirius, you’re out of luck with this head unit.

There are days I start with that step - and end with it.
