TPMS info please...

Good morning all, I am getting ready to buy TPMS system. Have read much here about them but have a question. The Tire Minder 10 piece (6 on RV, Precept 29v) and 4 on toad (Cherokee) specifically says "not for use on rubber stems or below 65 psi". So it's out for the toad for sure AND my front RV tires are rubber stems. Is it best to get a 6 piece RV set and a separate 4 piece toad set? Then I have two monitors on the dash board which I am not loving. Thoughts please... Thanks, Brian

I have the tire minder 10 on my coach and Jeep toad. The coach has metal valve stems but the Jeep doesn't. Coach tires are +/- 100psi and the jeep obviously below 60. Everything works fine. Never had a problem with it.

We have the Tire Minder... There is nothing about it not working below 65PSI.

I've attached the manual with the pressure ranges it supports

Brian, I have read a post or 3 in other forums where folks have had the rubber valve stems wear through and cause a leak ..... due to whirling mass effect of the sensor at the end of the stem. In the 22K miles on my toad ... never a problem, same as most folks. I do run cap sensors rather than flow through type (less mass.)

I have the TST system; others are just as good IMHO

Good times and safe travels to ya

Tireminder the most popular.

We went with the RVi mainly to have flat tow braking and tpms bundled on one screen. Even has checklist and leveling interface. Had since 2021.

We also went with RVi for same reasons to have RVi flat tow braking, RVi tpms and RVi battery charger all on same screen. Works fine. Biggest problem with RVi TPMS is battery length that varies but probably will not last more than two years. Then the devices need to be returned to RVi for I believe a $16 replacement charge for each.

Make sure you take em off when not in use and store in warm place during off season. Although, They should autodetect on/off.

long term tireminder user

We have had 3 tireminder systems over 30 years on different rigs. All good. Would not hesitate to purchase again. Presently on a 2026 Jayco Precept 35s with a 2004 Wrangler toad.

Tpms

I don't know about tire minder but I have a GUTA brand that works well and even on rubber stems.

TST 507 for over 15 years and no problems. (Just replace the battery every year) I did change the valve stems to metal as you could see the sensor making marks on the rim, so it was bending quite a bit, but never broke or leaked.

What 1 piece valve stems have you used. Seems like, ideally, a different stem is needed for each application... 2016 20MV with AL outside and front wheels.

I would like the metal, 1-piece stems to be able to present themselves for easy application of the sensors, as well as filling.

So, Inside rear, steel wheel, for stem to angle and protrude through hole in Outside rear Al.
Outlside rear Al, Easy as these are radially mounted, so just a simple, short, straight stem will work well.
Front Al: Needs to curve around and come out one of the holes in the Al whee.

Tire stems

Yes, the rear inside and outside have different shapes. Don't know whether the tire shop made them fit by bending straights or if they had 90 degree. They work great though! My TPMS is not flow through so they have to come off to add/reduce air pressure. Not a big deal to me. Tire shop was a commercial vehicle shop so they were used to truck tire access issues.
