Water filter question

My Precept 31UL has a cartridge filter. Is it necessary to add an inline filter on the supply hose? With a pressure regulator in front of the inline filter it seems to cut down my water pressure significantly.

No need for the inline with a whole house cartridge system.

Is the water in camping ground the same as the city water used in our traditional home? If they are the same, why do we need water filter for RV? The tap water in our traditional home is drinkable, which has been filtered many times before reaching our home. Some people install filters to get rid of some chemical tastes, but it is drinkable especially after boiled.

Many campgrounds around here have well water. A filter, either whole house or portable will take out any sediment, and a host of other not so nice things from it. We've been to only one private RV resort that had the same village water supply as the residents. We do drink it, but still hook up a filter. You never know what's lurking in the pipes, and for how long.

Considering city water processing/filtering system is very sophisticated, obviously the RV simple filtering from well water can not compare to city water system filtering out chemicals, bacteria and virus. That is, RV water is not as clean as city water. Can this be a problem for full-time RVers?

That's a good question, and I think you'll get some answers. We're just weekend warriors. I have seen double and triple filtration systems available, and at campgrounds, that sure look like they'd filter out anything thrown at them.

All campgrounds have to have safe, potable water, but not all water tastes the same.

I use an inline filter when I fill my tank or hook up. I have an internal filter but figure it can't hurt adding a second filter. I prefer running off my tank/home water even when in a campground that has water hookups. I must be a mutant.

I guess when I was a kid, it was ok to drink that rubber tasting water from the hose. Now my tastes have changed a bit!

I use an inline filter as well as a pressure regulator on the water hose on top of the built in filter and cartridge. Just my preference, I still have plenty of water pressure for my needs.
