Where's the Inverter?

Good Evening Folks,

Was RVing this past weekend and reading some of the many manuals. Focused in on the inverter and it states that is should be mounted close to the batteries. Took a look at the battery tray and did not see it. My guess is that it is near the circuit panel under the bed.

Thoughts.

Probably. You don't want it exposed to battery gasses. When they say close, they mean as close as possible.

The reasoning for saying close is that you want your cable runs to be a short as possible to minimize resistive voltage drop in the cable. Under the bed is pretty close to the battery compartment and the cable is sized to minimize voltage loss to the battery compartment.

Also, you don't want your electronics exposed to the environment.

1st, what is your model and year? If there is (and almost certainly there is) a member with your model they can tell you exactly where it is located and any operating instructions you need.

On my 195RB the inverter is about 15 feet away from the battery box.

Most small trailer models have a coolant fan and control panel in one piece. If you open the panel with the coolant fan vents the breakers and 12 volt fuses are all in one place.

Hope these pictures help.

As the OP posted his question in a Class A forum the small trailer information likely does not pertain. His guess, Under the bed, would be logical for Class A motorized products.

Just an FYI that's a converter not inverter.

The op question was inverter location. I was assuming that was what he meant.

Inverter = 12vdc to 120vac
Converter = 120vac to 12vdc

It's under your bed on your Precept 31UL.
