Winegard 2.0 Wi-Fi/4G antenna

Hello, guys, as some of you know that pretty soon my DW and I and my son is going with us to drive my truck back home, lol. I seen that my MH come with this so I wanted to educate myself with this.

Is this a mini wi-fi that we can use on our travel and once we get to our campsite, so all who use this Winegard what can you tell me about it?

Every time we get to a site we would like to connect to some kind of wi-fi, I do have unlimited data on my phone from Verizon but I don't know how it works? Thank you for your help.

It is. There are other features available, but we don't use them. We use ours exactly as you described what you intend to do.

There is a stock SIM card that comes with the Winegard, and if there is a local wi-fi network you will be able to connect to it. It might be an unsecured connection.

We exchanged our SIM card with a Verizon card. (You can get cards for other providers as well.) We now have Verizon coverage whereever it's available. We have had good coverage everywhere we go and it's been excellent even while we are moving.

The card was free, but it requires a separate line so there is a monthly charge.

Edit: If you go with Verizon service, you will have the same security and service you have with your other devices.

Unlimited data isn't always what you think. I think all carriers do this but for Verizon if you use over a certain amount they slow your speeds down. My Hotspot was a true unlimited until I upgraded my phone. I wasn't aware they did this but they slow it down as well if I reach a certain amount of data. I don't recall how many gigs before they slow it down but for me it was so slow I didn't use it like I did before they slowed it down.

Thanks guys, when I get it I will go to Verizon with card in hand to see if I can get them to give me one and since I do have Verizon it's a no brainer. I'm trying to get as must info as I can get so when I do get it I will be good to go.

You are welcome. I have been helping a buddy set up his Pinnacle, his Winegard and Wi-Fi connection to Jaycommand. It is not hard, just a little tedious.

The web page for your winegard is easier to use than the phone app. Here is the URL I use
http://10.11.12.1/cgi-bin/luci/theme...ard2/index.htm
Your RV's wifi can have any name, so I set the name to my camper's name... Eddie Network and the password to something easy to remember. Then I set my laptop and TV to log into Eddie, then I set my wall panel to log into Eddie. Now when my winegard has internet (via SIM or via campsite wifi) everything inside is already connected.

Okay, so the Winegard have two functions, one it act as a extender and second it act as a internet, 5g wi-fi is that correct? I don't know but maybe it's my browser because I can't get the link to work.

Nope, I suspect you have the standard gateway which is only 4GLTE and only 802.11b wifi. The faster Cell and WIFI is available in the new Winegard WiFiRanger Osprey Gateway with Cat-6 4G LTE, Dual 2.4/5.8Ghz WiFi 5

I'm upgrading mine for my next winter trip. Gonna be great.

No, Winegard is a fancy Wi-Fi Antenna only. It seems to "boost" the signal but only because it is high up on the roof of the camper. If you purchase and install a 4G card, it can be used with Winegard if the Wi-Fi signal is bad. Winegard's call to fame is that once at the campsite, you connect it to the local Wi-Fi or 4G if you choose. and it then connects all your Wi-Fi devices to it and not more looking for signals to stream TV, etc. At the campground we are in now, it automatically allows the TV to stream movies, assuming the signal is worth a darn.

Hopefully you have a good dealer that understands the system. Much easier to learn it first hand
