Winter house battery charging — what’s the best way?

I have a 2018 31UL Precept. Is it best to use a solar charger or trickle charger on the house batteries for the winter? I can plug it in, but I would have to travel back and forth to the storage yard to do it.

Depends on how cold it gets..... I have read that below 33 degrees a trickle charger will not do it. My advice is either leave the unit/battery's plugged in or remove them and store them.

I have always pulled the batteries and put them in the garage. Charge them up before putting them back in.

Your rig should have a the Smart Charger so you can just leave it plugged in with no issue. Just check the water level about every 6 weeks.

Grumpy called it! Our rig is equipped with a smart charger in the inverter. It automatically maintains the batteries when plugged in for the winter. I had to download our owners manual to find it but it works. Thanks Grumpy!

Converter, not inverter.
