20# Propane Tank Theft Deterrent - by THE $5 MOD SQUAD

I was inspired by anothers creativity and decided to design my own cheap solution to deter theft of my 20# propane tank. It's not about the cost of replacement (worst case $50-$60)....it's more about the inconvenience. Again, the goal is deter a grab-and-run.....Ciao!

Yes it does...after test fitting, I wanted to remove the tank and run some paint around the bare metal of the new hole before final assembly. I pulled up on the tank 2X before remembering why it wouldn't budge. (Amazing how short my memory is sometimes)

It was your thread that inspired me, Tail_gunner...I just had make it work for the single 20# tank bracket

Keep the lock well oiled with road grime it maybe hard to unlock when the time comes

Our local police department hands out free gun locks...they are the cable type with a small key lock attached I snaked one thru each of the tank bottoms and attached them to the length of chain and padlock I have around my battery box.

That's a cool idea. I used to use a chain and lock. This is much cleaner and less noisy when on the road!
