Hi Bob,

Just ran through your entire thread and very nice work. Some of the mods I've already done but still lots of ideas to keep be busy once the weather warms up.

Thanks,
Dale

As soon as the weather warms, I'm going to install a detachable shore power outlet on my 24rbs. Since I can't get out to look now, where is the cord stored, and once removed, is the location useable for storeage?

DancingPossums,

Your existing 30amp cord is stored at the bottom (enclosed area) of the entertainment center, below the two-door cabinet. I consider it usable space but haven't decided on where to make an opening......, possibly adding a pair of hinged doors below the two existing entertainment doors, or a pair of drawers.

....... even thought about making a removable false bottom panel (hidden) from within the existing two-door cabinet

Depends on the model trailer. On my 23RB, it's pretty much wasted space. There is no way I saw to conveniently get to that storage area. Other models, it's easy to get to.

Installed an LED light in the rear cargo area....., was prior sink/stove drawer area. My 12V source was approx. 5ft away from the new light fixture so overall install went smoothly.

What did you use to attach the silver insulation material to the walls and such in your pass thru and OS kitchen area. Looking at doing something similar to my new TT.

jimp,

An RV industry standard...., 'staples'

With the foil insulation it only takes a couple staples to hold a piece in position.

Hey Rustic Eagle - Do you have a parts list for the drain mod on the pressure release valve? I haven't been able to find the blue threaded piece and size you used for this? Any online descriptions would be great. Thanks!

esunday,

I had a couple on hand but I'm sure you can get them at Lowes or Home Depot..., even a good hardware store. The plastic threaded adapters come in different colors (blue, grey. etc.) and styles, just depends on the manufacture. Take note of the thread size on your pressure relief valve...., I believe they come in two sizes, 1/2" or 3/4".

Here's the manufacture's description: http://www.lascofittings.com/products/3400-005

A metal threaded adaptor would work just fine as well.

Best to use a high temp rated rubber hose..., the smaller diameter hose is easier to use for this application. I used a automotive heater core hose (Auto Zone, etc.).

Replacing the sofa with chairs?

The wood furnace enclosure is approx. 24" x 24" x 10" tall. The fresh water tank fill and water line is directly in front of the enclosure.

The Lazy-boy wall hugger I have is 32" wide and requires approx. 3'-4" deep footprint when in the upright position. I wouldn't consider a wall hugger recliner any bigger then this.

Adding a recliner to the right of the furnace would reduce the walk-thru space a little between the recliner and corner kitchen counter...., and with the recliner extended the leg/foot support would be over the floor furnace vent.

I've considered adding a 2nd recliner in lieu of the sofa, but for now having the extra storage space is nice.

Reference my 2018 24RBS:

Bob,
Thanks for the great upgrade ideas! I got my 2018 24RBS in September. My first rig and am making a few mods. The one driving me crazy (as others have mentioned) is how to replace that sofa with two comfortable chairs? I'm hoping others have some ideas. After talking to a couple of RV service centers and not getting much creativity, I am toying with the idea of putting in some wing back style home chairs. I am considering expanding/building a slightly bigger vented box for the furnace that would also cover the two hoses. To get full use of the space, I would modify the legs of one chair to accommodate the furnace box.

Appreciate anyone's insight.

Jeff,

Welcome to JOF

I haven't put any more thought into the sofa area yet or seen any mod yet. Look forward to see what you come up with.

I just returned from down south for the winter (5 months) and my floor plan mod worked out great. I will add that the entry door window replacement mod (removing frosted window) brought in additional light and outside viewing providing an "open feel" while sitting inside.

Do you use Teflon Tape on the plastic threaded adapter where it's screwed into the water heater?

* 3/8 C x 1/2"FIP x 12" long steel Braided Hose (https://www.menards.com/main/plumbin...693-c-9413.htm)

* 5/8 OD x 3/8 OD with 1/4 Turn Valve (discard nut/copper ring) (https://www.menards.com/main/plumbin...002-c-9415.htm)

Links are for part description reference.

NOTE: First connect/tighten the braided hose to the plastic-threaded adapter, then connect to the HWH...., much easier. Also, only use a "plastic" threaded adaptor when connecting to the Atwood aluminum HWH.

Finally installed my (2) 6V Deep Cycle batteries today...., this is the same battery set-up from my retired Eagle TT.

As mentioned in a prior post I relocated the wire bundle that initially ran over the top of the battery support rails that restricted a 2nd battery install...., relocated the wire bundle underneath the support rails.

The Jay Flight (rounded front cap) battery area is much more confined then my prior Eagle (flat front cap) which made for a tight fit for the two individual battery boxes. I use two boxes because I remove the batteries after each camping trip......, TT stored in public lot.

LP tank cover in place......

Batteries fully charged and ready to go.......

We have a 2014 248RBS. I was wondering how large the slide area was in your unit. I hate the dinette. Wife and I would like the extra seating with the recliner. Thanks for the help.

Bill,

The inside of the slide is 3ft deep by 7ft long.
