3rd Pair of Stabilizers

Has anyone added an extra pair of stabilizers to the center area of their travel trailer? Our coach is 33'11" in total length. It seems like an extra pair of stabilizers in the center area of the frame would help. Can this be done? should this be done? If it can be, why don't manufacturers do it? I appreciate your thoughts. I am seriously considering this mod.

I have used the screw jacks, on our last tt. Worked great. We found placing them infront of the axles worked best.

No reason why you can't add a set. Manufacturers usually add amenities based on dealer/customer requests and I've rarely seen a TT with a 3rd set. They are more frequently used on FW. Even companies like BIG FOOT only have a 4 jack system for a TT.

Do you think the extra pair of stabilizers would help?

My TT is 35' and I added a pair of manual crank down stabilizers amidship just in front of the tires bolted directly to the I-beam. Yes they definitely help. I purchased them at Harbor Freight. I also use a couple of screw jacks on my rear bumper in addition to the 4 factory stabilizers so I have 8 points of stabilization. Pretty solid.

I always put scissor jacks between the tires on the frame, takes the bounce out the tires. Also between those and the front stabilizer I install the screw jacks, which makes it a solid setup. While traveling during a one night stay I won't bother.

I did exactly that. It only took a few minutes.

Here is a link to my post on the subject.

I did it too a few years ago and it's well worth it. Definitely makes it feel more solid inside the trailer. Even with 6 stabilizers and X chocks I can still feel a tiny wiggle when the kids are horsing around in their bunks and I'm up front in bed. Still, for a hundred bucks it was a good idea adding them.
