A home for Old Glory

It's nothing complicated but I wanted to share... I wanted to mount a flag pole without having to use a 20 foot tall lightening rod ... mounted next to the battery box and it fits between the body and propane tanks

I plan on it! ... this weekend. Solar power LED spotlights round out the project.

Thanks all.

Thank you for the idea and the photo!!! I have been struggling with this issue since we purchased our TT. I will be making the same mod as soon as we get back from the current trip.

Only issue I can foresee is the flag could be flapping against the RV, which potentially could harm the RV or the flag. I use the PVC free turning type so it can spin with the wind, and the PVC is dropped over a section of reinforcing rod driven in the ground. As long as your proudly flying it, it's all good !

Good point ... the entire top half and the clips that hold the flag to the pole rotate freely. Hopefully I won't have to relocate it because it's whipping at the body.

Right up front where it belongs, nice design.

The bracket and mount, by chance is there a link?

Thank you.

The brackets are made of 1" x 1/8" bar stock cut to 7 3/4" ... drilled to mount on the battery cross braces and for the pole base

When you buy the base you get a free flag pole

A home for Old Glory

I bought 1/2 pvc pipes in 4 ft sections , I attach them together by pushing them into the connector collars. I drilled small holes at the junction so I can put a small voter pin in so they stay together & glued the other end of the collar permanently to the pipe. I attached the flag permanently to the top section. I use 2 radiator clamps to hold the pole to the rear roof ladder. Works great & is easy to remove & store in the pass through hold when leaving. Cheap to make. Ace or HD has all you need for under $20.

Pretty savvy ... no ladder for me though and I wanted the flag up in the front. Do you leave the bottom section permanently mounted, or do you strike that to travel too?

Everything comes off when I'm traveling. It only takes me less than 5 minutes to mount, tightening the clamps with the screwdriver takes the most time. I wish I had some pictures but never did take any. The flag held up in 20 plus mph winds without a problem. its flexible enough to tolerate wind.

I found a 20ft telescopic fiberglass pole that work great and no lightning rod and you can use your same mount.

Another great idea posted on the forum. My only concern is noise from a flapping flag. Our bedroom is on the front of the trailer, just behind the hitch, and so I was wondering if a flag mounted on the hitch would make noise flapping in the wind all night. I'm a light sleeper so I'm concerned if that noise would keep me up.

I'm sure you have all seen those flag mounts made out of 3/4" PVC where you pound a stake into the ground outside the camper and then slip the mount with flag over. I made one and it works great to show our patriotism and love of country without keeping me up because of flag noise at night...
