Add battery voltmeter to control panel

In my Jayco Pinnacle, the factory put in the really worthless battery check that tells me Full, 2/3, 1/3, or Empty. So I ordered a voltage meter with a led read out of the voltage. I installed the display and replaced the switch blank and with a switch which is wired to the battery and meter. When the switch is off the voltage meter does not display anything and when switched on, tells me the battery voltage. A side benefit is since I have solar panels on the RV I can see when the solar controller starts kicking in at times feeding power to the batteries. It’s not fancy, but works great and cost less than $20.

Nice setup, I like the idea of shutting it off when you aren’t watching it.

I did something exactly the same the other day in my rig. I really didn't like the little red idiot lights telling me battery "level". So, I put in a digital gauge too (in blue LED), with a switch to turn it on/off.

I also, at the same time, put in a 12 volt female cig receptacle, so I could plug 12 volt chargers, my cell booster, or a usb light.

Another option is battery monitor BM2 from amazon.

QUICKLYNKS Auto Battery Monitor BM2 Bluetooth 4.0 12V Device Car Battery Tester https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT4583U..._7GfCEbD6XA64N

It attached directly to your battery and connects via Bluetooth to your phone. In the morning, I can sync the app and it will actually show me the last 24 hours. I can even see how many times the furnace turned on during the night.

I added that on my last trailer. I put 2 of them right on my controller....told me voltage coming from panels and voltage the batteries were at. Loved it!
