When buying a new RV, it's good to consider which options are cheaper to order from the factory and which are less expensive to add aftermarket. On our White Hawk, for example, it was much cheaper to order the 15K BTU AC option than trying to upgrade from a 13.5K BTU AC later.
The White Hawk's "Chill n Stor" refrigerator, however, at $210 from the factory, was not nearly as expensive to add aftermarket. We bought a 1.6 CF
Midea refrigerator, which is quieter than Jayco's factory refrigerator and also has a much easier-to-reach off switch right inside the fridge (the factory unit's off switch is on the back of the unit, hard to reach). The Midea is also quieter.
All we needed to do was build a platform for the new fridge and secure it in the front cargo compartment, which comes pre-wired with a 110v outlet from the factory.
I've posted pictures of the mod (as well as all my others)
here. Total cost of this project - about an hour of my time and $90.
