Mine is a heating-only application since the controls for our A/C are mounted overhead on the unit.

New thermostat was a great upgrade, with the factory stat I was either freezing us out or cooking us

I did the Coleman Mach digital unit in mine the day after I brought it home, I really wish it was backlit. I'm already considering changing it for a residential unit.

Backlit would be nice, but to me it's not worth the more difficult install. The Coleman Mach is an easy wire-for-wire, 10 minute install and you don't have to "hack" anything (fan speed switch) to maintain complete functionality. So I just use one of the several flashlights we have around the RV if I want to see the display at night when everyone else is asleep...

I just check the thermostat on the way to bed since it's in the hall on the way and there is a light right above. If you've set the digital before bed, the temp should be he'd all night...unless there is a problem!

The flashlight method is what I use as I always carry a Streamlight microstream in my pocket, I just fine it annoying.

Mine is located on the side of the entertainment center and it sort of seems that it shadows itself with the light from the ceiling mounted lights.

It's one of those things that will bug me but in the end I probably won't do anything about it. It's like a new refrigerator that we bought that didn't have a light in the freezer. 6 years later, it still bothers me every time I open the freezer

I bought the same model but cannot figure how to wire it. Called Honeywell and they said would not work on 12 volt system.
Can you post how you wired it to make it work on a 2 wire 12 volt system?
thanks, Roger
