Awning saver
I just had a thought. Has anyone ever thought about running a line of Eternabond down your awning where it is exposed to the sun when rolled up? That is the first place it is going to degrade. Thinking I might try it.

It would be much cheaper (and easier) just to get the aluminum protector cover.
roll out the awning, remove the 4 screws that hold it to the roof channel and roller tube, slide out the awning, attach the aluminum cover slide the whole thing back in.. 20 min if you have 1 or 2 helpers.

I bought some cheap vinyl gutters at the home improvement store and simply place them over the awning when our travel trailer is parked at home. This keeps all the harmful UV rays off of the awning fabric!

I just put an ADCO Cover on my trailer after every use. Its not a super large Trailer (29 feet) but it isn't difficult once you do it a few times. Keeps the UV off the whole thing.

I had the same idea and was going to ask here also but I was thinking something like that very sticky aluminum tape that they use for a/c ducts. Fairly cheap and would work I think. Just need to apply to first 8 inches or so.

Here is a awning cover that might work.

I had a situation where the awning thread on the edges, closest to the RV, started to pull out. I thought it would be a "good idea" to lap a 6" piece of Eternabond over this edge to keep the seam from unraveling. WRONG! Over the past two years the "goo" from the Eternabond ooozed out and sticks the fabric together. It's a real pain now every time I extend the awning. Then just this season I noticed the Eternabond "goo" has actually separated the awning fabric. Long story short...I have new fabric for an awning that had another 2 or 3 years of service left. Eternabond and awnings do not go together.

I am so happy that I seen this. I just bought a roll of the flex seal tape, to do the same thing, since mine has started to get small holes, where it's attached to the side and the thread on the ends are starting to unravel also... guess we'll just "roll with it" until we replace with new.
