Awning Track

I'm looking for a better way to hang out my camping lights. I've heard about these tracks that slide into the grove on the awning but not sure how they work. I didn't even realize the groove served a purpose.

How well do they work?

Has anyone used this product? http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...twintrak/42443

Can you leave them on when you take your awning in? and also while traveling?

Thanks, I've been looking for clips to clip the lights to awning but maybe this is better?? Jay

Basically what that does is make two tracks out of one. You can buy these.

That slide in each track. You really don't need the double channel unless you want to hang several things.

No don't roll anything up in your awning. Its easy to slide them in and out, there is a notch on the side to get them in. Just drop the awning down where you can reach it from the ground.

You can get that one to hang rope light in.

I use these hooks & tabs. I remove the metal hooks before I close the awning but leave the flexible nylon tabs attached. I did have to "whittle" down the part of the tab that slides into the awning track. But that was easy enough to do with a sharp pocketknife.

I've been using these Awning Hook-Ups to hold my rope light for years:

I leave them and the rope light attached to the awning tube when I roll the awning up.

I use a rope light track and remove it every time, it doesn't take long to set up and take down.

I tried to leave it in once to see what would happen if I had to do a quick "storm" rollup and it worked, I just didn't like the way it sat though and would not be comfortable leaving it that way for long.

I got the rubber Camco ones with the S-hooks from WalMart and remove them each time I furl the awning.

We had been using the rubber tabs with the S hooks from Camco that we bought at Wal-Mart. Recently though we have gone another direction. I have added a set of LED strip lights to the roller then fished a wire up awning supports. I then fed it down the fridge vent and picked up 12-volt from the fridge. I'm now done with putting up and taking down lights.

I noticed yesterday that the track does not face downward when the awning is fully extended. Is this normal? It seems as though it should face down.

Take a look at Campin Muds post in the hybird section, I just had the same observation on the track position. Also, with electic awnings you may have to carefully select the clip style that goes into the track, the endcaps of the awning decrease the amount of access to the track.

Got mine in black from my local RV dealer. You can leave them in the track.

See my posts here on slot placement.

http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthrea...Autodump/page2

I am trying to get warranty work done on mine. Jayco called Carefree, but they never gave an answer to them. You can see how bad my awning sags unless I roll it up a little bit. That puts the slot up against the fabric and renders it useless.
