Do you want a wired or wireless camera? I spent about $40 for a 4.5" tft monitor, camera and RCA extension cable from Amazon and eBay for my wired set up and get good results. The camera isn't the greatest at night but you get what you pay for.

I got the "5th wheel" system from Costco then ordered the second cam from the manufacture and have been extremely happy with it.. I went with the hardwired system as I found too much interference from other wireless systems.

X2 on the Rear View Safety cams. They're high quality and the cables and connectors are some serious stuff that you know will last. Costco had the best price on the system I purchased as well.

They work great. That is what came on our PINNCALEf from the factory and I love it. You can toggle between camera and GPS or leave it on camera which is what I do. When on camera you still get the warnings on the screen (sharp curve ahead, low clearance etc) depending on how you set it up.

We just ordered a new Eagle 291 RSTS and got the factory rear camera option. It appears to be a wireless Voyager unit with a portable display for the truck. It should also have a built-in microphone so that my wife can talk when outside at the back of the unit while I back in and I will hear her via the display in the truck.

Unless they just swtiched JAYCO is using GARMIN. The dealer may be installing the VOYAGER.

Looking at buying a cam and debating wired or wireless so I was wondering if I could get more info from you.

What do you think is causing the interference in the wireless? Also, what does it interfer with ie. picture quality or no picture at all etc.

Purchased a wireless from Tadi brothers a couple years ago with the extra range transmitter . Didn't like the fact that you still lose the signal sometimes . I hardwired everything which was a easy job and really like it . I double tow and to me it is important.

Nope. The Garmin is a different unit used on models above the eagle (eagle premier and pinnacle) and also has a gps. My dealer verified with Jayco last week that it is a voyager.

You will get interference from wireless security cameras, since they have more power usually they will over ride your image.. you will also get interference from other backup cams.. so when your backing into a campground spot and someone else nearby is you will interfere with each other. Hardwired is not that difficult and since I can have it on all the time going down the highway I can watch for things behind me like tailgaters and smoke coming from the RV.. eg blown tire..

from my experience, the wired ones work better, and have less interference, but the wireless ones are easier to hookup.

The Gamin JAYCO installed worked flawlessly for 936 miles. I had it on camera the entire time and had absolutely no interference.

I've been told by a guy that installs these things that the wireless ones will get interference especially from Bluetooth devices like your phone and Ford's sync system. I have recently found a new system that works off of WiFi and uses your android phone or tablet. Its called Rampage and etrailer.com sells it. They say WiFi uses a different band and there is little to no interference. Has some decent reviews but its mostly from jeep rock climbers. Thinking about getting one myself but at 150 bucks I'd like a little more feedback. Not designed for permanent mounting. Can use to make up the hitch and use in different trailers and vehicles as needed. I like using my phone so I dont have to add another doo hickey in my truck.

I have installed one on my boat trailer, one on my previous class C, one on my truck near the ball, and now have 3 on my new trailer. If you have nothing (no monitor or double-din stereo with video input) I would recommend http://www.visorview.com/

I started with their wired system. You have the option of a simple cheap monitor or putting one into the visor of your vehicle. The reason I went with them is they guarantee the cameras can be submerged on boat trailers. I went with a two camera system (truck/boat trailer). I still have that setup - transferred the camera to my new boat trailer - and have had no issues.

With my new trailer - I added one camera to the back, and one camera on each side of the trailer. I went with the cheap amazon cameras - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are cheap, cheap, cheap - i ordered 5 just to be safe - for when one fails.

I also upgraded my truck stereo so I didn't need the monitor anymore. It also allows me to switch from truck to other camera - I now have a multi-switch under the stereo in a cubby hole. Fits the spot - now I just select other input and can push a button on the multi-switch to see any of the three cameras on the trailer. Normally, I just leave the backup camera on and drive down the road - had to lock out the parking break wire so I could watch as I drive instead of only when I backup.

To answer your question - I would stay away from wireless setups unless you are going to use it on a farm by yourself all the time away from anything else. Otherwise, you will see baby cameras as you drive down the road or just get interference as others have said.

If you want to install something like this yourself, choose a setup that has the power and signal wires in one waterproof cable like the visorview stuff. Otherwise, you will have to run separate power and signal (RCA) cables. That will make it an easier install. Most good cameras (not the cheap ones above) will have these good cables (9-pin din if I remember the name correctly). The other side of the cable will have 9-pin to power/RCA cable (power to your vehicle fuse panel and RCA to the monitor). Sounds more complicated than it is.

I installed a voyager wireless camera and monitor on my current trailer and could not be happier. I have been using it for 10 months now and have never lost the signal and have never seen baby cameras in the monitor. It was simple to install and as you can see from the picture I removed the center marker light so when I sell the trailer I can remove the camera, mount the light back and use it on my next trailer. The voyager systems pairs the camera to the monitor. My setup is 50 feet from the back of the trailer to the monitor and I always have a strong signal. The built in microphone allows my DW to guide me into sites without yelling or using a walkie-talkie. The system can be somewhat expensive but it allows me portability.

I have the Voyager wireless. I have tried several analog wireless and found them to be useless because of interference. The Voyager is a bit dear at something north of $700 but not as expensive as the wireless $200 jobs. I bought mine on the recommendation of friends who already owned one. Leo
