Bathroom sink stopper modification

The stopper in our bathroom sink only goes in the closed position and you can’t leave it open, so small items can easily go down the drain. I’ve seen mods that put O rins around it and it works good however what I did was take a pair of pliers squeeze the edges down as far as you want the stopper to be open and it works great. so far I haven’t had any problems. I also bought a second stopper which was cheap and keep it in the drawer in case I need to stop up the sink to fill it with water.

Installed alum mesh screens in bath and shower drains for peace of mind.

I had some rubber "O" rings lying around. Found one that fit and put it on the shaft of the stopper. You can adjust it up or down, depending on how open you want the drain to be. If you want it totally plugged, just adjust the O ring all the way up until it meets the top edge of the stopper. The rubber forms a seal and no water goes down the drain.

Simple, cheap, and adjustable. And I learned about it here on JOF several years ago. Way to go, Jayco Owners Forum!

Mesh screens often come in set of 3, one each for shower drain and 2 sinks.
