Battery Drawer

Did this a month or so ago, had been thinking about it for a while. My batteries were hard to get to, and I had to unhook all of the wires and drag them out of that hole to check the water or else use a mirror, which I really think would be a hassle, and I would put off checking them. Bought some 230# drawer slides and a piece of angle aluminum. The slides have good latches on them, and will stay put when closed. Just checked my battery water. 5 minutes and they're back in place. I'll get some quick disconnects when I get a round tuit.Click image for larger version

Nice job.

I got tired of fooling with water, and batteries and went to AGM.

Nice work. How did you attach the right side? Nothing solid that low on my Northpoint.

The slides are screwed through the flimsy sheet metal and then through (Approx) 4" strips of 3/4 plywood. That sheet metal wouldn't hold much weight at all, so the plywood strips take the weight. The screw holes in the drawer slides are only #10 size, so I made sure I used every available hole. It's sturdy.

22" Bought them here. https://vadania.shop/collections/dra...20000152420416

I was surprised when I couldn't find a million sources for heavy duty drawer slides. They had a 15% off coupon + free shipping.

Would have been easier to get the MorRyde battery drawer, but theirs wouldn't fit, and costs a lot more.

I made mine to hold 4 batteries
Use welding cable and you won’t need to disconnect your end all the time to slide the tray out.
The welding cable is like a wet noodle

Amazon has them for $72.00 a pair with free shipping...........how does that match up to what you paid?

Looks nice!
Now at watering system and cut another 4 minutes off of your 5.
I put it on my boat (hard to see cells). Liked it so much added to boat bank and trailer.

Yep, it's very frustrating that our Greyhawk 31FS has both a short slide on the drawer and short cable. Even after I installed longer cable it still would not come out far enough. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a special filler kit that claims to fill all chambers from just one filler hole.

Great idea! Was wondering how to make it more convenient to check water level, etc. Now I know what my next project will be. Thanks for posting!

Outstanding...I was thinking of doing exactly that to our 2019 Eagle 28.5 RSTS! What are the plastic trays that the batteries are sitting in? Looks like they are great to help secure them!

Or switch to AGM batteries. No gassing, no fooling with water, and stack them however you want. I went away from flooded years ago. Too much fiddling with them in the off season.

I got these, but I also used the original strap to be double sure.
