Kids complain also that they are to hot. Did you just tap into the light wires for power?

Just curious here why does this camper have the pass through connected to the main part of the trailer. My does not and I was just wondering if anyone knew what the through process was. Also should I look to do under bunk supports in my pass through? It is not connected but I can’t remember if there is extra bracing there or not

Thanks Crabman. Used to, I’d undo or take most mods off of a rig before selling. I’m so far into this one I’ll probably keep it until it falls apart. I’ve lost track of how much has been done.

6 v batteries and box

Hi John,

I wanted to ask you about adding the 6v batteries. I always thought our TT's were almost exactly alike except for the bathroom and extra door. Because of the TT nose shape it seems I can barely get my 12v battery boxes in place. Did you modify the angle pieces that the battery boxes sit on so they would sit lower? There doesn't seem to be enough room to fit 6v batteries due to height. I was looking at buying a 2000i generator mainly to charge the batteries. If I can get 6v batteries in there I wouldn't have to buy the generator.

Dale

John I installed last year as long as possible mud-flaps, but noticed when hitting a higher object the mud-flap goes against the tire and there will be a downwards force and will pull the mud-flap assembly down. After this did happen to me I installed chains for not to re-incur again.
Once a person makes his TT to his own specifications it will be hard to part from....you'll know what you have. With another the process start all over again. Great to see your mods.

Dale,
No doubt there is little room, but mine did fit. I measured quite a bit just to make sure, but the dual 6 volt battery box did fit the existing angle iron. Height was almost a no go as seen in these pictures. I have just enough room to get the lid on and off.

Hey ALJO. I've dealt with the mud flap issue before on trucks, so it did pass through my mind. But, I never back up to anything with the camper. Or better said, rear tires of camper never bump a stop block or anything. But, it's something I have, and will continue to think about. Mud flaps were a necessity. We live on a cut through / logging road, and I got tired of my fence post storage outfits getting covered in mud, plus the rear steps and underside. Had to do something. And of course they add a nice touch to the appearance.

So you just basically spliced into the line going to black tank. No back flow valve now? Just a straight shot to black tank.
Anybody have the original picture of what it looks like now, just so I understand does the black value flush leaks overtime? This mod removes the elbow?

I used square tubing end caps. 1”x1”. You can find them at Lowe’s / HD. Here’s an example:

I didn’t pay that much, just wanted to show for reference.

Bam. New cheap dual 6 volt batteries installed. The jumper and everything is temporary. Just got them put in to get things usable. I'm fixing to have the 2 gauge cable made shortly then that project will be a wrap.

I have that box too. Really like it. Not the cheapest but seems durable. I went with Costco Interstate 6V.

I did the same mod just today. Same box and everything. I bought a 2 gauge cable to connect the two batteries.

Why would one want to change the 12v battery with two 6v batteries?

To go from 85 amp/hr of electricity in the Grp24 12V battery to 215 amp/hr of
electricity in the GC2 deep cycle 6V batteries.

Also, the golf cart batteries are much more robust, and can take a much bigger beating than the hybrid 12V that came in the trailer.

Cool deal. My 2 gauge cables should be in soon. Please post a picture of your set up. I haven’t decided what to use, but it’ll be some sort of conduit to house the wires from the pass through to the box.
