Hey did the case fit perfect when you removed the old one? I got the same trailer just wondering if you had to mod the case or add more support. Any vent holes required?

In case some of you were wondering, I spoke with the company today about painting the box black. He said he has heard from many clients that they had painted the box with Krylon, or similar, and that the paint sticks fine.

If you sand the box with fine sandpaper the paint will stick.

Hi John,
Quick question, do you use a 6 volt charger or a 12 volt charger to charge them?
Any problem with the charging system that is already built into our trailers?

The 2 6's wired in series is just a large 12V battery. Charge it like you would any 12v battery. Your on board charger only sees a 12v battery.

Did you managed to install a backup camera, want to also use an old smartphone, if you did what camera did you go with? Thanks

Did you end up getting a wireless transmitter? How did the install go? I assume you tapped into the back middle light for power.

I bought a Wi-Fi transmitter model 903W from AliExpress.

I got power from the middle light, so the camera only works when the running lights are on.

I wired it this way on purpose. If the transmitter stops working I can just turn off/on the running lights and it will reset.

There is a slight time delay of about 1-2s on the video feed, but I still find it works well, especially since I just added a bike rack to the bumper that I'd like to keep an eye on.

HEADS UP 28BHBE OWNERS!!
My smoke detector mounted on the ceiling above the sofa (and hidden when the slide is in) dropped down on the slide and when my son was putting out the slide, he heard a crunch. Started looking around to see what happened. Found the smoke detector jammed between the 2 top slide out seals. In the process of trying to get it (smoke detector)out. it made about a 1" tear in the rubber roof.

I was thinking of cleaning around that tear and putting some eternabond or flex seal tape over the tear.
What would best clean the roof to help the tape stick? Someone said acetone. Thoughts?

NOW, before the slide comes in, the smoke detector gets put in the drawer and after the slide goes out, it gets hung up.
Dumb place to mount a smoke detector.

The imperfections of "Man" is created in his creations.
Eternabond has its own cleaners.

Clean install, I like how you jump the running lights with a fuse. I assume this will eventually kill your battery if left on for the whole night? Any benefit in installing the camera on-top or under the light?

If you have your trailer plugged in, it will power from the inverter. I know this because I currently have my battery removed and the fuse trick still worked.

Don't know if there would be benefits to moving the camera. On the roof it might shake in the wind while driving?? Under the light is fine, but I wanted to make sure my lights were unobstructed for other drivers.

Sounds good, sorry meant to say would it drain the battery alot if your dry camping and having the running lights on. I guess this all depends how good your battery or batteries are.

By no means do I mind seeing other's mods on this thread, but, the whole idea of seeing BigJohnD's Mods is getting lost with other's mods.

The case did fit snug in the original angle iron supports. I haven't added any supports. May redo the whole angle iron thing later and lower the box a little. I wouldn't say any vent holes are required as there are already precut holes for wiring that could act as this.

Atlee answered this one for me. 6 volts wired in series, thus charger etc sees 12 volts. Everything works like it should.
