Cabinet shelf edges

The shelves in the bathroom medicine cabinet have no front edging, so every trip/movement when we would open the cabinet, stuff would fall out...tried to use those adjustable tension rods, but with little to no shelf depth of the cabinet, not much would fit in there with the tension rods.
So I found some furniture edging that I thought would try and it works great...
thought I would share this in case others were looking for solutions as well...

I am now looking for a darker wood color and wider strips now that I know this works....the 15/16" size that was available at the time is ok, but I thing maybe 1 1/2" would be better...

They also make iron-on edge banding. Just a thought. Since I have the woodworking tools, I cut the same strips from hardwood and pin-nailed them on.

I agree - a great tip!!

I've been looking for the rubber tube style shelf retainer product I used in our cabinet and can't find it anywhere. It might not made anymore, but that's ok because the stuff inside still wants to fall out when we open the door. We play "catch" the first time we open it after travelling.
