Custom suspension and a few other things

A couple pics of my 2015 Greyhawk after getting a 6" lift and 4wd.

JRide system totally removed to make way for Fox 2.0 shocks and custom leaf springs built for what the rig actually weighs versus what Ford ships them with. Massive Swaybar on the front Dana 60 axle that also has Ford F550 brakes grafted onto it.

Work done, but not in the attached pictures:
  • On Board Air with an outlet on each side of the coach.
  • Custom spare tire carrier
  • 200w of solar
  • Huge Deka AGM battery added
  • Airbags with in cab firestone control system
  • Aluminess front bumper with Hella Black magic lights
  • Custom 5Star tune

All of this was done by Ujoint Off-road in Fletcher, NC.

I put over 1200 miles on it and they are working on fine tuning a couple things.

The brakes are amazing now and I no longer have to worry about dragging my butt on any uneven surfaces.

Very nice! My 2016 Greyhawk 31FS is jealous

I've been following the Ujoint Offroad builds for a few years. In fact, they posted a youtube video of your rig that shows off the custom battery mount, spare tire carrier, etc:

I'll look forward to some more feedback from you regarding the road manners, handling, etc of the rig.

Thanks for sharing.

Looks great! Less outlay than one of the MAN or Fx50 pickup conversions.

I looked thru the pics on their site. Most look to be sitting lower at the back than the front. Is this just the pics or actually the way they sit?

She sits pretty level. The perspective of the pictures makes one think it is higher in the front.

The brakes are awesome now. Less worrying about having enough stopping power, and more worrying about what will come flying forward.

Yeah there is a little bit of body roll in the corners and on ramps, but it isn't anything that is scary. When they dismantled the JRide system in the rear, they asked if I wanted air bags and I said sure, why not. Having never had airbags, I had not given much thought to how they should be inflated or how I would find the sweet spot. I started with them set at 90 psi, which was a huge mistake. Once I got that sorted out, the handling was a lot better and more predictable. There is now a massive sway bar on the front axle and that has made the passing semis a lot less scary. Instead of the shove I got when the nose of the semi came even with my door, there is a gentle nudge.

I picked it up and put 1200 miles on it before giving it back to the shop for some tweaks.

What's your intended usage that had you put 4x4 under it?

Holy cow. I hope that comes with an Atlas II, RCVs, Dynatracs, selectable lockers and 4 link coil over setups front and rear.

In our Alaska travels we have scraped the hitch on the ground getting into a spot, which got me thinking about changes, then I saw a rig that had this done. Do I need the 4wd based on where I have been, NO. Do I need the proper springs, bigger brakes, better clearance, more Amp hours, proper ventilation for the generator, a real spare tire carrier, and On Board Air, yes...

Great setup for Alaska. I could have used that setup a couple years ago in Colorado.

The Dynatracs alone can cost close to $20k depending on components.....and they don't hold up well on a heavy rig......I found that out the hard way. It's hard to beat a shaved 14-bolt rear and HP Dana 60 of front, from both a cost and durability standpoint. Now an Atlas 4-speed and ARB's would be a must for the OP's RV if it were mine.

Cool rig

Given how the RV makers extend and cut the frame rails, the whole twisty flexy stuff that you need an Atlas tCase for would likely leave you rig in a crumbled pile on the trail.

Yeah but it would be fun to try! That is, if someone else were footing the bill or take an old one and build it up.

I'd like to add some kind of vent to our generator door. I noticed the 2019 Jayco models have a large vent on the door.

Any chance you would share a more detailed picture of what they did on the generator door? Inside and out?

Thank you!
