My two units have been performing flawlessly for almost a year now and since they are designed for RV use, they do not have batteries.

I just changed my analog to a coleman digital and it was very easy wire for wire swap and like Ed said no batteries and no switch install for the high low fan modes. Well worth the extra money for the coleman especially if you are still under warranty.

Can't wait to get mine. I'll have it installed in under 10 hours - just kidding. I'm slow but not that slow.

How do you pull the analog thermostat off without pulling off the screws out at the same time?

The front of the thermostat just unsnaps from the base. The base is screwed to the wall.

Mine is securely attached to its base and I'm fearing that the base will detach from the wall before the face plate detaches from the base.

You might try a small flat blade screwdriver and try to wedge it between the front cover and the base and twist it to pry the two pieces apart. there could also be a notch between the two pieces for this purpose.

That did the trick, thanks.

OK, here is my installation. I had to use my hole saw and add another hole because the wiring on the new Thermostat was in a totally different place than the old stats location.

Thank you Tim. I copied your mod exactly and I love it. I got the thermostat on sale for 25 ans the switch for $3. Worth every penny.
