Entrance handrail mod

Our fifth wheel has the new style steps that fall down out of the doorway. We really like it and it’s very sturdy however the handrail leaves a lot to be desired. If you try to use it it is very loose and very unreliable. I’ve been able to drill through it and place a bolt and a knob to tighten it up which works very well however I’m thinking about bolting the base through the wall. Has anybody done this and has it worked out well.
