EternaBond on front seam

Since the new trailer came with the seams done with that awful peel & seal asphalt and foil roofing tape, a priority is to get rid of that junk and replace with the 6" EternaBond tape. I'm doing the front seam now. In the process, I not only removed the asphalt based tape, I removed caulk/trim strip and all of the original pookie from over, under and around the trim strip.and cleaned everything down to the bare metal and rubber on the roof.

Now that I have it to that point, I'm wondering if I really need reinstall that 1¼" wide by ¾" tall lump of "H" strip and the huge mass of caulk tape and lap seal needed to put it back and make it smooth. I'm considering simply screwing the aluminum cap and rubber back down into the wood with metal roofing screws and using this flat surface to lay my EternaBond. Seems like deleting the trim strip will give me a much better and flatter surface for the new tape to bond to.

If everything I hear about EternaBond is true, it should lock down solid and make for a better installation. I imagine laying a square inch patch of EternaBond over each of screws will add extra protection to the top layer of tape and I'll have a surface I can really lay into with a steel rolled to bond it very well.

Good idea or bad?
