Exterior Table Mounted to BBQ Track

Hi, everyone.

This mod is early in the idea phase. I don't know where to start to get the right parts to do the job right. So I'm posting the idea hoping y'all might have suggestions.

In intend to fabricate a table that mounts on the exterior of my X23b where the barbecue grill mounts. The outboard end of the table will be 2 adjustable length legs that fold out similar to those on a card table.

Q1: I can find the RV BBQ/Accessory mounting rail online. But is there a counterpart that is designed to match up to it? I want to ensure a snug fit so the table doesn't get bumped and popped off.

Q2: What would you recommend for legs? I'm thinking adjustable tent poles so that the legs can always be solid on the ground.

For a visual of what I'm trying to build, see the Thule 5532 Smart RV table. The key difference is mine will work as both a standalone table, and be mountable on the camper side (since I'm really just adding the bracket on one side).

Your thoughts?

Rusty-- just buy a pup table, it will have the bracket that matches up the the bbq bracket. My last jayco pup (1986) had a table with an adjustable leg and I used it outside all the time. Larry

Any suggestions on where to find a "Pup" table? Google keeps suggesting POP table. Grr. Figures that what I thought to be a cool idea has already been done by someone else. But...that also means I don't have to spend time fabricating one.

Rusty-- I know the tables exist all rv dealers must have them for the popups, but if you can't find oner look under " rv parts direct" for the stuff you will need except for the plywood. (Adjustable leg and the wall / table bracket). Larry ps I'll never tell her that the idea has been done buy someone else

I'm a late joiner to the forum, read this post and happened across a part that might work for this idea.

I have thought about this what else could we use the track for.

When you look up to purc hase the grill track it states it will hold a grill other accessories but I can not find other items for purchase to use in the slot

Any ideas on items you can purchase. we have thought about making a drying rack for towels to put in the slot.

The grill track on our PUP holds the grill and a small table. Pretty nice.

I have the RVQ grill. This thread has got me thinking about fashioning a table or counter-top that would use the RVQ's mount. Just swap the table for the grill or vice-versa. Plus it would only be the table top itself so it could store almost anywhere.

If you do fab a table top up. Post a write up and pics of how you mounted it. I've been thinking of something similar. Possibly using a quick clamp system like the lighting that clamps to the tent extension bars in the bunk area.

Here's a link to the actual RVQ bracket for $25.00 + shipping. You could use conduit straps to attach the table top of your choosing and finish to make it.
You could use Starboard for a top to stand up to the elements.

I just raised our 19H about 2 & 1/2 " so I had to lower the mounting for the grill. I left the factory mount in place and used the bracket I got with the RVQ II grill .Mounted it with wood screws right to the side wall just as the factory bracket was mounted. If you get the part that wrenchturner found at "factoryrvsurplus " you will be good to go for the table mount. Larry

I was thinking of using a large plastic or plastic type cutting board.

Don't use Pup in your search string. Use "Pop Up Camper Table". That might yield better results. I just tried and the first result was this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COLEMAN-TABL...sories&vxp=mtr

That might be more than you want to pay, but at least that search string yieled a lot of results, if you have some time look at it and see if there are any you like. I am not sure if this particular one has the groove on the end though, but you can find some others with this search string.
