Factory Satellite Connection Upgrade

We Fulltime in Jayco Pinnacle, we typically stay in a location from 2 to 6 weeks, so we decided to get Dish Satellite service.

Only problem Jayco installs only one cable / satellite connection port. When we are traveling from location to location we will not setup the Satellite for a overnight stay and will most likely use park cable.

I removed the single cable connection and installed a dual connection, one for the satellite and one for the park cable.

It works great, since the HD Satellite Receiver feeds the HD Port on the TV and the Park Cable feeds the Cable port on the TV we can use the remote to swap between the Satellite feed and the Park cable feed.

Did you run a separate wire on the inside, or use diplexer's?

I ran a separate wire inside, the satellite wire goes to the satellite reciever and the cable wire goes to the factory antenna amp connection.
The satellite reciever output goes to the HDMI imput on the TV and the Cable is connected to the cable connection on the TV.
The Satellite reviever has a dual tuner with 2 remotes, so the bedroom TV only gets Standard Def Signal.

My previous TT I used diplexers and the original single cable. I was able to get everything nice and neat on the inside, but the outside was no where near as clean as this mod is. It's great you were able to run a separate cable for the satellite, it's one of those things where you wish you were in the factory when they were building the trailer. I got a dozen or more of those...

I use DirecTV's Single Wire System (SWM) and feed everything from the single factory installed coax. I feed two DVR's, one in the back and one in the front. It works great.

Hi Rob, nice piece of work on the cable set-up.

As you are a full timer in a nice big 5er, I have a question for you. In the last couple of days we have had rain at our campsite, the sound on the rubber roof and vent covers is almost deafening. We are in a forested area and the rain falling off the trees is even louder. Is this an issue in a large trailer like yours as well? I realize that your roof would be much higher than ours, but with a wood based roof, does that lessen the sound in areas like the bedroom where the roof is closer?

Nope, when it rains hard it is still makes a lot of noise.

We do have Maxx Air Covers on the vents, so that helps with the sound on the vent covers, but a heavy rain on the roof does get loud inside.

Thanks for the quick reply. We've had a week of good weather a week ago but now were back to the rain again. I'd have to find a dryer climate if we were to full time it. The sound would drive me nuts after a while.
