I’ve got the same Stromberg rack and planning It for my generator as well this summer. Rating is 300lbs and my Honda 3000 is 130 lbs so looking good. I can spare the tongue weight so all will be well I hope. Please keep us posted as to how it works out for you.

I have a $7,000 electrical system in my setup, part of which is to be able to charge my batteries on non-solar days. I use a propane powered 700 watt generator for this: https://www.google.com/search?q=baja...hrome&ie=UTF-8

I bought mine from Amazon but looks like the price went up.

Here's the manufacturer https://www.strombergcarlson.com/pro...-model-cc-255/

I think personally the 2000 watt predator would work better for me, quieter, more powerful, for just a little more money

It would because you don't have 3 of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and 2 of these: https://www.goalzero.com/shop/portab...r-station-app/

I do, so all I need is a little propane powered genny that weighs next to nothing and uses one bottle of propane every 60 hours to keep my batteries up on a non-solar day. And, I don't have to deal with smelly gasoline, or gasoline possibly going bad over time. My solutions aren't for everyone, I get that, just saying, if performance is the objective, I can run my AC with no generator for nearly 18 hours in my TT.

Sounds like some folks need to read up on tongue weight. Any load before your axles will increase the tongue weight and any behind your axles will decrease the tongue weight. distance before/after the axle plays a factor as well. I've seen where someone added too much weight behind a trailer axle and it actually pulled the TV rear wheels off the ground. Trailer sway is also a thing.

That's why I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like to keep mine at around 300 lbs.

How much does your camper weigh? We have a highlander, but I've been afraid to pull our camper with it.

Power cord too short mod

If I were to install this generator mount, I would run a wire from the main breaker inside the RV to the front of the RV and add another power inlet plug. Or better yet, use a short cord with the plug on the end to plug into the generator. Probably need to add a transfer switch between the main breaker and the two power sources for safety.

This is the link to the one in the photo:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZCJZC3H...lig_dp_it&th=1

If your RV has a twist-lock connector already, make sure you use the same one for the front connector, so it is compatible with the OEM cord you have. Run 10/2 with ground Romex cable (or larger gauge) from the breaker box to a junction box on the front of the RV.

Option 1. You can use your OEM power cord up front to connect to the generator and/or the shore power or, make a short cable with the plug for the generator on one end and the twist-lock on the other end.

Option 2. You can come out of the junction box with a 10/2 w ground, black rubber cable, with the generator plug (this allows you to leave the generator connected, ready to go).

With either option, you will need to add a transfer switch between the input twist-locks and main breaker. *The transfer switch needs to be installed to keep the twist-lock plug not being used from being hot and back feeding the generator when plugged into shore power*.

You can find the plugs and receptacles on Amazon, Ebay and sometimes at Lowes or Home Depot. The twist-lock connectors should have a NEMA number on them. The NEMA number will help you match up the plugs and receptacles.

I was using a 3500 Predator Generator. It had a twist-lock 30-amp receptacle on it. When I upgraded my RV from the "stuff-it-in cord to the twist-lock plug, I made sure to use the same NEMA connector on the RV. That allowed me to make a 6' cord to plug the generator to the camper and also use it as an extension cord with the original cord when at the RV park.

I found a poly storage chest at Tractor Supply that fit great on my Stromberg Carlson. Menards also sells them. I am trading the camper in and not sure if I'm putting it on the new one so may be selling it . They are truly well made!

I have had the 3500 Preditor and recently purchased the new 5000 Preditor. The 5000 is setup for 30 amp RVs. I have only ran it on propane. It is supposed to give 30 amps running on propane. The 5000 is maybe 10 pounds more than the 3500. The 5000 has all the features you need for a RV generator.
