Generator Mount

Added a generator mount to the front a-frame last night. If I can lift the generator up that high to get it on there I think it will be quite nice. Also have to see if the trailer power cord will be long enough to reach since its in the back of the trailer....

Looks like it will work well. Will you be adding some theft protection and a cover for road spray?

I highly doubt it will be long enough.
Might need at extension cord.

Mine just misses the front end of my trailer. I run my Predator from the bed of my truck and need an extension cord. Where did you get the mount? Will you travel with the genny secured to the mount? I am thinking of doing the same thing. Not sure how it will affect tongue weight.

How heavy is the generator? I use a Honda 3000I and I sure wouldn't want the extra weight on my hitch. But you may have a lot of room to play with. It would be handy though.

That frame looks good!

I've be trying to decide on the rack since last year. Amazon shows the shipping weight at 66 lbs and my generator is 100 lbs. It would be real handy for my grandson's kart races, his kart takes up the bed of the truck and would be a good place to haul the generator. They can be some long days waiting for the different classes to run, the TT keeps us from having to us the porta potties and a cool place to sit on hot summer days.

I did the same mount, I love it. Took it on a 3K mile trip behind my self driving Toyota Highlander. Worked amazing.

The dealer set up our hitch when we bought our TT. I really need to load it up for a trip and stop by the scales so I know the real numbers.

I saw and liked one of those generator mounts on a new TT at the RV show earlier this year. To the OP, have you run the generator while it’s on the new mount? Did it transfer a lot of vibration to the camper? How about noise? Thanks in advance, Jay

I opted for a simpler at home solution: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

FWIW, there is some vibration, I wear ear plugs and can barely hear it. I did get some extensions to run the genset 15 feet away, but my genny only weighs 25 lbs and doesn't hold any fuel.

I was thinking I would, don't see why i couldn't. it will add to my tounge weight but I figure as it is now I'm placing the generator in the bed of my truck so if anything it will be less since some of that goes to the trailer axles - or I could be full of it - guess we'll see.

I ordered one last night, figured what the heck I'll give it a try. I think my power cord will reach the front of ours, if not I already have an extension.

Interesting thought

Will that add too much tongue weight? Why not put that plate on the rear bumper and mount the generator there. Harbor Freight has a 3500 Watt Super Quiet Inverter Generator less than 100 pounds and puts out 35 amps. 30 Amp RV adapter included for easy hookup to your RV. Pure sine wave.

Benny on the A frame

Watch out for exhaust if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction. You will smell it if you are laying down on the main bed. Learned it from experience with my Champion mounted in the back of my pick up.

What generator do you have that only weighs 25#s? Curious!
