Goodbye faux brick backsplash
DW is on a kick to personalize the White Hawk. First on the agenda was to erase the brick wallpaper backsplash thing.
It's the plastic tile from Home Depot with the adhesive backing. Took some extra time to make sure all the grease was removed from the wall. We are happy with the results.

I must be a moron, because the pictures look like there is already a brick backsplash thing on the wall.

The DW and I want to do this type of update to ours. Our galley still has the original sticky-backed backsplash as shown in the picture below. This same backsplash is also used as the border in our bathroom. The sticky-backing has dried out over the years and both galley and bathroom are curling away from the wall at the edges. I'm not sure what to replace the bathroom with, though. I considered a wood trim but the border doubles as the backsplash for the bathroom sink and I certainly don't want wood behind that.

Awesome addition, I really like the OEM look with the REAL feel. Very classy upgrade, added another to my list, thank you for sharing this.

That looks awesome! I've been thinking of a good alternative to the wallpaper "backsplash" and this looks like a pretty clear winner!
How many tiles did you have to buy for that space? Was it difficult to match the radius and cut the tiles around the windows? Did you make any effort to remove the original wallpaper backsplash, or did you just stick right over it?
Sorry for all the questions, but this is a project I may begin sooner rather than later!

Thanks everyone, and yes I realize I could have worded it better. Afterall I did go from one faux to another
The tile went right over the existing wallpaper, and due to this tile having "texture", you will not see any sign of the wallpaper.
The product I used is called "Bellagio" made by Smart Tiles from Home Depot, and in order to cover over the brick wallpaper I used 9 of the tiles.
The radius cuts for the window aren't so bad as you'll just have to take your time with a pair of scissors. Either through dumb luck or skill I got both radius cuts done without a mistake. You may want to purchase a couple more tiles just in case.
Remember that you're not butting each tile from end to end. You need to partially go over the next tile in order to match the "grout line". The seams will disappear.
Prep was done with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel, especially behind the stove where it was a bit greasy.
Lastly don't lay the tile flat or else you'll get air bubbles. Match the grout seam on one side, then start pressing slowly while working out the air bubbles with your other hand.
Good luck!

Looks great! I was planning to do that exact same tile before ours came with the backsplash update.
Good job! I bet DW is thrilled!

Nice work. Our new Jayco came with a faux brick tile board backsplash and not the brick looking wallpaper. I had the backsplash on my mod list before my rig was delivered.

On our 2013 X23B, we have the faux tile, and it looks just like what your pics show. Apparently Jayco did a good job with it because many people thought it was real tile!
