I now store my L clips locked up with my bars because of this post.

Although the Equal-i-zer manual doesn't say to lubricate the bars, it does state the following:

"Lubricating the socket joint may help reduce this noise, and is part of the required regular maintenance routine. Lubricating the L-bracket joint is optional. A better solution is a set of official Equal-i-zer brand Sway Bracket JacketsTM. They quiet the ride without the mess of using a lubricant."

Not so. Someone swiped one of my round bars. Cost about $80 to replace.

Question about greasing these bars. I thought you weren't suppose to grease the bars because that would decrease the friction for sway control. Do I have this wrong?

yes you are suppose to grease the ends that go into the head.

Do you not have your owners manual?

But not where the bars hang on the L brackets. On the E2, that's the only point of friction sway control, so you don't want to lube those points. The Equal-i-zer with 4 point sway is a bit of a different animal.

I store mine in the shop when the trailer is not being towed. When living in the camper I lock them to the trailer chains. Everyone has a key for the out of sight storage so I don't put them in there.

Yes, they do. I figure most thieves look for the easiest opportunity. A bar or anything else laying on the ground can be picked up without barely breaking stride. Sly and possibly unnoticed even with people around. Walking up to an RV, unlocking the storage door, rummaging through it, while hoping no one is inside hearing you or that anyone sees you and knows you are out of place is a bit less inconspicuous. Doesn't mean it won't still happen but I'm just assuming I am reducing the odds by keeping things out of sight and less easy to grab and go.

99.44% of people are good honest folks. Every now and then, you encounter a bad egg even in the best of parks.

I was recently in a RV store where they had several used hitch heads for sale.
When I turned the hitch heads on their sides it was easy to spot ones whose
owners never use grease. The holes were elongated and out of round compared to those who used grease.
