Honey I Shrunk the Dinette!
I butchered up the dinette, took about 22 inches off. It still works as a dinette and also collapses for a bench seating area or one person sleeping area (a small person). The table is wiggly even after purcasing and aluminum based table pedestal to replace the factory plastic one. It was a crash course in minor upholstery to cut and sew the cushions back and on a scale of 1-10….well lets just say we will not use scales to grade this outcome but it works. I also installed a small trashcan inside the cabinet door.
More mods to come soon.

Looks good. How did you mount the trash can to the door? And what model Jayco do you have?

Its a 2022 212QB, sorry, i should have put that in my first post. The trash can bracket came with some good command strip type of tape that worked really well. I also had to remove one table pedestal bases that was recessed into a hole in the floor. Thankfully after the base was removed i found the piece of linoleum that was cut out, i patched the hole in the sub floor with a piece of 3/4” plywood from underneath and fabricated a plug out of 5/8” plywood to fill in from the top. I glued the linoleum patch in and it came out pretty good, you really have to look for it to see it, thanks to the Jayco fabricators for not cleaning up after themselves.

Wow, great craftsmanship! (You, not Jayco.) Who'd have thought their sloppiness would be a benefit? LOL

Awesome job, we have talked about shrinking ours too, but I also like the idea of tossing the jack knife sofa and making a U shaped dinette in the back of our 212QB.

I find this post quite interesting, it shows that as individuals, we all have different needs, wants and desires.
The OP finds more value in having a nice open area in the back of their trailer and only requires a small dinette, Royal Tar feels having a large dinning/seating area in the back of their trailer would likely suite them better. I have read a number of posts where members have cut the table back to give more space in the aisle (this is more common), where as my wife and I really like the larger sized table when it comes to sitting down and having a meal. Also, I am a fly fisherman and quite often tie flys inside out of the wind, I set up my vise on the edge of the table and sit on the sofa, it puts me at the right height and distance from my vise and affords me all kinds of room for materials, etc.
What’s really cool, is having the ability to change things to suit us all better.

Looks great. Have you thought of adding a second pedestal to stabilize the table? Great work on this

Ha! Great job, and love that you just shared it, cuz it's MY next mod. I've already got it marked off, just waiting to get home from the Grand Canyon.
Though for now we'll just trim the table back (we still take young grandkids camping).
I hate that cramped area back there, and have racked my brain about what to do with it. And now you've shown me an idea. Thanks!
Right now what we do to comfortably watch TV, is fold out the little couch, lean back on pillows with our legs on the dinette seats. So just getting rid of some of the table will help alot.
Nice work!

Thinking of doing the same in our Alante 31L. Fortunately when they build these things they lay the flooring and build on top of it, so you can usually find some extra flooring under a bench or in a closet. I'm going to replace the jackknife sofa w/ two recliners and I want room to walk between the extended recliner foot rests and the dinette. Additionally, when the LR slide is in there will be a wider walkway in that area.

Sorry for the late response, I’ve been really busy, I got it from Walmart.com.

I was thinking of a wall mount table bracket but I would have to shore up the mounting area somehow, its just hollow paneling below the window.

They are expensive though.
