Improving the Coleman Mach A/C
Over the weekend I stumbled upon a YouTube video about greatly improving the efficiency the Coleman Mach air conditioner. This product eliminates the foam separator that frequently causes poor cooling from the AC.
My question to the forum is has anyone installed this product in their Coleman Mach AC unit? The price listed is $170.00, but in the video there is a discount coupon. It is not listed on Amazon. This looks very promising as a way to greatly increase cooling from the AC.

Yep, I saw the same video and decided to tear into my AC units. I couldnt swallow spending $340 for my 2 AC units knowing I could come up with something and basically did the same thing with foil tape, Foam Board and some 3D printed parts costing about $15 per unit. If you actually search the internet a bit you will find all kinds of people that have been doing this same type of mod for quite a while. I checked all my vents before and after and the highest increase I saw out of one vent was 6.5mph of air flow.....it is a night and day difference. Here is a link to my post about the work I did on mine. The factory job of installation is horrible.

I noticed on the 'RV Airflow Systems' web site that a number RV manufactures have made the "Compatible RV" list, but Jayco has yet to be added to the list.
I believe I read/heard that all new Grand Design models have this A/C plenum upgrade.

You may have to contact the company. They list rv models, not brands of ac's on their website

I believe the RV Compatible list is comprised of verified installations in those RV's. Being that there is a industry standard for AC mounting dimensions I am pretty confident it will work in my Starcraft (Jayco). I plan to verify the mounting compatibility using their drawings as soon as I get some spare time.
I have greatly improved the efficiency of my AC thanks to the Thread in the RV Chat: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f18/jayco-a-c-ducting-67173.html
This mod looks to improve on that by eliminating the foam separator that is tricky to position correctly and is susceptible to becoming easily dislodged.

I agree.., but more important is the corresponding "brand/model A/C" installed will dictate the "internal hardware configuration" compatibility to the RV Airflow Systems product.
My Jayco has the Dometic Brisk II Air, Model B57915.

I finished off fixing my rear ac by re-taping, sealing and adding my 3D printed parts and here are the final numbers on air flow increase....pretty amazing. Measurements were taken in MPH with both AC’s on fan hi before I did my work and after. One downside is I had quite a mess to clean up as the increased airflow blew sawdust, duct trimmings and foam out of all the ducts.

That’s impressive. I measured mine after sealing leaks in the ducts and making sure my divider was solidly in place and I was getting 10-11 mph air out of all of my vents. We are presently in Tucson, AZ an the high tomorrow will be in the low 90’s....a good test of my AC.

Good improvement - just curious - vents 9-12 are close to one of the ACs but
all four readings before and after are fairly lower than all the other registers....is that AC ducted only, or ducted and vented into RV? Just curious as to what
might contribute to those particular vents being lower, but close to the AC?
If not over pressure since being so close. Cheers!

This is because the vents are so close to the source opening in the ceiling ducting track, this is common as the air flow that close is so fast, air is just passing over the vents. I have read one solution to try is to use rubber door stop/wall protectors and remove the vent and stick them to the top of the duct track. This helps disrupt the air flow and divert it downward. I have some on order to try. But its not really a big concern as these 4 vents are right over our rear bed so I really dont want them blowing to hard back there.

We have a 12.5 BTU Coleman Mach a/c in our hybrid. You turn it off and on at the a/c unit (there is no wall thermostat to control it) and our a/c is not ducted. When we bought our 2017 23B, we found that the a/c just didn't cool as well as the one in our previous 2004 23B. I came across a video on Youtube that explained there is an internal thermostat, and if it is set too low, the compressor kicks off before the interior gets nice and cool. We adjusted this thermostat after watching the video, and the a/c now works better than we could have anticipated. We could hang meat in the camper if we wanted to. So, if you have the setup we have, this may be the fix you need to get it to cool exceptionally well. The link to the video is:

I also watched changing lanes YouTube post about the RV air flow system. My only concern is loosing the AC bolts and jarring around the roof ac unit, won’t that mess with the AC roof seal?

That’s one of my concerns as well. I think unless you actually lift the AC unit or slide it around on the roof there probably won’t be a problem. I think if I was going to do the install, which I am seriously considering, I would mark where the bottom metal piece is situated on the ceiling and then try not to move the AC unit itself during the install.

While messing with mine and making the 3D printed parts, I removed the w rear bolts that you would have to to put in the foam block unit and the AC unit didn’t even raise up one bit with the front bolts still tight. My gasket has white tightness indicates tabs on it and they never moved.

I talked to Chad from changing lanes, he said so far he hasn’t notice a problem with leaks, but he actually moved his AC unit around so the duct work lined up with the plastic collar they give you with the kit. I’m still not convinced that doing this mod has no effect on that roof AC seal. I’ll wait and see. When it comes to new devices like this I like to be a fast follower, not a pioneer!

I've been on the manufactures web site and they provide dimensions you can use to see if there product will work in your unit.

The files I designed for that fit my unit to 3D print are downloadable on Thingiverse now. They should fit any Mach 15 but just be aware there can be some small differences in every installation.

Has anyone checked to see if this will work for the unit installed as whisper quiet. No grill accessible from inside. Just curious if that set up has a airflow increase mod as well.

Any reason why you didn't make this a solid box? Was thinking about printing one but was going to design it as a solid box. Just don't want to go through all the hassle if you have already found it won't work
