Installing divider into storage area, question.

I’m interested in adding a storage divider/bed support under the forward bed area. How thick is the floor of my 2020 Jay Flight 264BH? Do certain screw styles work better than others? Any positive feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Try looking in cubbies like under the sink, where the water heater and pump are for a hole through the floor to find what your thickness is.

Probably 1/2 or 5/8ths plus the thickness of the flooring.

By the way, if you find holes through the floor this is a good time to stuff them with copper, aluminum or stainless scrubbing pads and foaming them in place to prevent mice or bugs in.

When I did mine 2 years ago I connected my new support pieces to the framing on either side of the bed. I did not put any holes in the floor. I've had no problems with the support pieces moving.

A course thread decking screw long enough to penetrate 2/3 into the deck will work best. I prefer a torx drive, or a #2 Robertson (square head/drive). If you go to the decking section on the fastener aisle you can find them in stainless or galv. Be careful not to drive any screw to deep, you never know if wiring or plumbing could be under there.

Did the same here. Kreg pocket screw kit worked well to drill and attach all the pieces.

I did the same mod to our 264BHW as Scott did to his. I also did NOT put any screws into the floor but simply secured the 3/4" plywood to the side bed frame. It has worked perfectly
