Issue with propane hose sizes

I purchased the dual propane tank kit and realize either it isn’t big enough or the lines under my trailer are unnecessarily large.

Lines under the trailer are 1/2” ID but the I let on the changeover says 3/8 ID

I did however notice there appears to be a reducer on the existing regulator between the hose and the regulator.

I need to extend the hose 2 feet to reach as the existing doesn’t reach.

Do I just need a simple 2ft male to female 3/8ID and connect to the existing hose once I remove it from the old regulator or is there more fittings I need?

I'm pretty sure propane lines only come in universal nominal sizes. It's either one or the other. 3/8" sounds right. But to answer your question, yes..that'll work. Or you could just buy 4ft. hoses and be done with it. Sometimes the description of the hose it'll tell you "regulator to (whatever)" hose. This assures you can connect to a propane regulator. They make a variety of different fittings and hoses. Just do your due diligence and you'll get it.

The only problem I've ever had connecting propane to something was my Blackstone grill.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity, did the previous owner modify my hose/regulator or do they not use sealant on the fittings from the hose to regulator? mines clean as can be.

Inverted flare fittings don't need any sealant (straight threads and a cup/cone internal seal surface).

NPT (National Pipe Thread is a slightly tapered thread with no inverted flare. NPT should have pipe dope sealant (and allow it to dry).

Our regulator uses the inverted flare ends on the hoses to the regulator, and NPT from the regulator to the underside gas plumbing.

Thanks I’ll check out the ends
