Please tell us more about the pass through storage sliding tray. That is certainly something I would be interested in.

I got the idea from a thread on here mentioning how Jayco didn't put a door on both sides. In checking on ready-made slide outs, I quickly found that I wasn't willing to pay those high dollars. So I said to myself, "Self, you can build one much cheaper than that!" Anyway.....it simply required a sheet of plywood (thickness - your choice), a couple 2 x 4's and roller ball bearings (I used 10), and locking hardware to keep it from moving while traveling down the road. The locking hardware is 2 small sections of perf angle (garage door support) lag bolted to the 2 x 4 sides and 4 bolts going through the holes in it and the plywood slide. Total cost: $39.00 at Menard's during the 11% off sale.

Here are a couple more pics of the in process....

Nice job Soulman! Even though my jay flight has access from both sides I may use that slide out idea!

I really like the can holder. Could you post some more pics of how you built that and where you store it?

I just used whatever scrap materials I had laying around the shop - in this case 1 x 4's, 1/4" pegboard, and 1/8" hardboard. I store ours under the sofa so I measured that area and built 2 drawers to fit that space. Each holds 35 cans. I set the table saw to cut about 3/16" deep slots in the 1 x 4's at 2 7/8" apart. This leaves an opening of 2 3/4" for each can. Then I just cut the bottom out of pegboard. After putting the sides and bottom together, I cut the hardboard to fit. Slide them in the slots and you're set.

Very creative.
Nice examples of functional, custom to fit and much cheaper than store bought.

Thanks for sharing,
Doug

Nice! Did you apply for the patent on the storage slide?

Your pop/beer cases reminded me of the old Coca Cola cases that sat next to the old Coke pop machines. You would put your empty coke bottles in them! I guess good ideas are timeless.

Those cases by the pop machines is where I got the idea......but cheaper and hold more!

And 2edgesword, if I got a patent for every idea I had, I could have been rich and retired by now!

I only get the idea after I've seen it advertised on television .

Thanks all for your kind words, everyone.
Chuckwagon, the cooktop cover is just a piece of scrap counter top I picked up at Menard's (or maybe it was Bailey's). I just stained the edges so they looked better.
