Jayco X213 MODS

I have done a few things to our Trailer since we got it last year at the end of May. Don't get me wrong, Jayco thinks and does some amazing things with their trailers, but . . . . I thought of a few improvements. And I would like to share them. I do have some others in mind, in part some of the ideas were helped along by this forum. Enjoy -
I built a birch ladder to get to the top bunk and fixed it on the wall. I didn't want to slide it, move it, or adjust it before travel so I came up with this solution. (Pic 1)
I also realized that the upper cupboards were very tall. So I added a shelf so that I could store more cups / plates / bowls up there.(Pic 2)
The Storage (not the added luxury of the 3/4 door on the opposite side) hull was pretty useless as it was. So I added another level onto it. The door didn't give too much of an option of the size of items I could carry in there (bbq) so this was what I came up with (Pic 3&4)
Also if you are a owner of a x213 there is a lot of unused space beside the pop out mech beside the J-sofa so i built a box there for storage. Pics to come.

Has anyone looked into adding a slide topper on their x213

The X213 was going to be our next step from the OFF-ROAD POPUP we have. I looked real hard at the 2009 and then the newer more updated 2010 model. It appears the 2010 fixed the slide out problems allowing the seat cushions from being torn up when the rear hugh bed slide went in and out... The earlier X213 rear slide were prone to saging when pulled up...


We looked at all the home mods to the X213 and there is hugh writeups on X213 mods. A very popular Trailer concept for sure... The RV NET has many many articles on X213 mods..

We got really interested and even done a few drawings showing how to mod the rear bunk area into a office/computer/Ham radio console area. Floor plan would look something like this..

Was going to purchase one of those L-Desk kits from local office supply stores and cut the L side to fit inside the Bunk room. All of the bunks and upper storage would come out as there is just the two of use and if any grandkids came along they could sleep in the converted couch bed...

Had this L-DESK in mind to build into the bunk room area... The L extension would be cut down to fit the area. Still leaves alot of desk space to use.. Plenty of room in front of the Desk for office chair on wheels. Would be able to slide in under the and pull the curtains...


Also loved the 12-inch deep compartment that ran the whole length of the rear storage area. This would be perfect to mount all of the 12VDC Support components like Power Inverters, 12VDC distribution panels, Radio controllers, etc.. All of my Office and Ham Radio wiring would be worked into this area. The ceiling shown here in this photo would also be removed.


The Bicycle door would still be used opening up to a much smaller participated off area for storage of outside items... This would be around 24-inches deep looking in from the outside rear door. Would have a floor to ceiling wall added here...


Also the other side of the rear trailer has a door that gives you access to the back and bottom of the clothes Ward. plenty of behind the wall space to support the Office and Ham Radio setups...

The up-right desk top hutch would be a nice touch with its glass doors and such to house my Ham Radio equipment. The L-Desk extension would be the printer install area with file cabinet on the bottom.

Nice setup - who knows how much weight this would add to the trailer haha...

We never bit the bullet however and still are enjoying our OFF-ROAD outings with the Startcraft 14RT camper...

Only pipe dreams now I reckon
