Did the same under bed mod to my new camper this weekend as well! I didn't put vertical supports on the ends, do you really think it necessary? My wife couldn't figure out why we needed this, but when I showed her the bed flex before and lack thereafter, she understood.

I have a tendency to over engineer. I’ll place mounts on the panel in a couple weeks (budget) to hold things so was my idea to support weight.

Yes your right makes the difference for bed for certain!

Sounds like you’re already well versed in mods, but just in case you want to see other 28BHBE mods here’s a link:

https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...hbe-30052.html

Takes a while to go through them. This is a 2015, built in late ‘14.

Following yours now. Good chance you'll inspire me to do something else to ours. I'm at the point now where I won't ever be ever able to sell it for what I have in it.

Thanks for posting your mods.

On the AC, something I’ve always done is insulate the intake box with reflectix. I just use spray adhesive and do it where I can still get the box open to clean the evap coils.

Food for thought. I can post a picture of one done if you’d like. Keep posting.

John, I had full intentions to do the squirrel cage and evap housing however seems Dometic seemed to improve their design and have molded styrofoam insulation covering the entire thing. Would you still utilize the reflectix?

Now that you mention that. If it's one of the newer / newest designs, it'd probably be a waste of time and effort to add insulation. I haven't worked on a newer Dometic, but do recall seeing how much better the box is insulated utilizing foam. Coleman is tried and true, but still has the same old school design, and the box is lacking in insulation.

I was a die hard Dometic fan until they came out with the smaller lighter version with the 3 wire electronic thermostat. I fought those things on 2 different rigs from t-stats to control boxes etc. Seems now, they might have it figured out a little better. I recently wondered why Jayco swapped to Dometic on some rigs. Cheaper? Or better?

What color wires did you connect the backup lights to in the wiring box? Do they come on when you put the TV into reverse? Or did you put in a switch?

The yellow wire is the reverse feed off TV, so yes ran wire from back and tied in so comes on when I drop into reverse. Works great for late night arrivals.

Hey JC, Like your tread of mods. The first picture of your first post in the thread you mounted a battery disconnect switch directly to the side of the battery box. How did you mount it so the screws won't pull out or poke the battery?

Dale, thanks, run the bolt from the inside out, with a washer, that way flat edge is on inner. Works perfect.

Thank you for sharing. At this pace you will be catching up to BJD in no time! ;-) . As a former 28BHBE owner I can appreciate the mods you have done. Quick question, what material did you use to insulate your AC shroud and how much improvement can this make?
