What you might find is the furnace has four possible opening to install vents. Two on each side. In my 21QB the two on the right go forward, one under the fridge, the other to the bedroom. Only one is used on the left and it's the vent that burns your feet.

The bad news is there isn't room under the sofa to reroute that duct forward.

I tapped into the duct that ran under the fridge to supply heat to the bathroom. Basically I used a "Y" connector from my woodworking dust collection system, some dryer vent duct, and a vent off of Amazon. Total time was about one hour.

I concur with TaftCoach on this mod, this is exactly how I did the bathroom duct also. I think it would be near impossible to do it any other way?

Mine used to run hot too (2020 model) until I had the gas regulator replaced due to recall. I don’t know if yours was part of the recall, but it’s worth checking out.
